I agree with you on a personal level -- we're not too demonstrative up here in Minnesota, and I've always felt kind of silly waving signs or chanting or what have you.

But there's still something powerful about seeing 300,000 people all making a statement in opposition to, or in favor of, a given person or idea. And sometimes it can be very important, drawing attention to an otherwise overlooked idea, or providing an indelible impression of the depth of support for a given issue.

There's a reason mass protests are banned in totalitarian societies.

Default the bible

For those wondering, the bible quote 2 Chron 7:14 reads as follows...

7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Default For the record

I have nothing against mass gatherings at all. I just don't like PROTESTS. Why can't people come together to say something positive instead of speaking out AGAINST something?

Default I too

am against protesters that are heavly funded by Theresa Heinz kerry and other TAX FREE groups. Who do these people think are paying for this? Just so they can stir up trouble. None of these groups should be allowed to use TAX FREE money for these reasons.
