Wow. I guess we're all just too busy discussing Obama's birth certificate.

But... fwiw.... he did it again.

Yesterday, John McCain made a gaffe that no one cared about: he referred to the Czech Republic as “Czechoslovakia,” which is actually correct, but only if you think time froze in 1992. Does John McCain think this? Because today, for the second day in a row, he referred to that same country as “Czechoslovakia.” It turns out he has been making this same mistake regularly for most of his post-Cold War political career, but since he gives the Journalistic Reporters apple-flavored lollipops on his comfy bus every day, they choose not to write about it. The Main Stream Media’s inability to mention this exact gaffe, in fact, was something George Bush complained about during the 2000 primary season. And look how that turned out for him!
No WONDER he wants to bomb Persia and take out their shifty-eyed sultan!

I actually didn't know the two were separate - reason being, I had a friend who lived there, and she always refered to her home country as being Czechoslovakia. She was only young, about 20, so perhaps she hadn't gotten used to the name change, or perhaps she was simply a bit forgetful, lol!

But you learn something new everyday...and it's okay that I didn't know. It's not okay for some old dude who wants to be Pres to forget it!

Yeah....because this is OH SO IMPORTANT, right?

I'm betting you didn't think twice about Barack Obama who claimed in a speech that his Uncle helped liberate the Jews held at Auschwitz-----when it fact it was Buchenwald. He not only mixed up the name of the death camp that his Great Uncle supposedly liberated, but it was the Soviets who liberated Auschwitz; a fact Obama apparently didn't know.

Or perhaps you missed it when Obama said we need more Arabic speakers in Afghanistan. And that the reason we don't have them there is because they are all in Iraq. One small problem---- Afghans don't speak Arabic. Primarily, Afghans speak Dari and Pashto.

Or perhaps you were unaware that Obama said ""Thank you, Sioux City!" to an audience when he was really in Sioux Falls. NOT only the wrong city, but the wrong states!!

And what about Obama thinking we have 57 United States in our country? Guess he missed that while he was attending those Muslim schools overseas?

To name but a few Obama mishaps. AND this is a guy that is supposed to be young, smart and energetic? Some might ask.... too much crack when he was younger? Whatever the reason, he's had plenty of goofs too----and will have more. NOT that you would ever notice-----or care.

Those have all received ample coverage.

This thread is about McCain not knowing the names of countries while touting his abilities in foreign affairs.

Please stay on topic.

Thank you.

The name of ONE country. And he does have more abilities in foreign affairs than Obama---so why wouldn't he tout them??? But hey----if you really believe this one mistake is going to do it for your guy, then carry on! <G>

BTW, YOUR guy touts "change." AND the only thing he's changed a lot lately is his mind!!

Thank you.
Could we also include in that topic the fact that McCain - the man running on a platform of being a foreign affairs leader - also does not know the ethnic/tribal groups that live within certain foreign countries and more specifically how those groups interact (Sunni vs. Shia)?

Nah, I don't think McCain making bonehead mistakes is going to "do it" for Obama. What will "do it" for Obama, I think, as the polls seem to be showing, is the fact that people are drawn to his freshness and his ideas, and they are tired of war and this dying economy.

You're correct to a certain extent. McCain does say the word "nuclear" correctly. So there's already an improvement, no matter WHO wins.
