Did I say I now WORK in op ed for a paper?

No, I didn't say that. I said I used to work for newspapers as a columnist, reporter, editor and NOW work for a federal agency in a position where I WRITE op eds.

Please try to keep the facts straight, Senator McCain.

It's not that bad, I mean I call it Czechoslovakia sometimes (maybe 4 years of Nazi Germany history has something to do with that ) and for most of his life it has been Czechoslovakia. Give the guy a break, he is only human.

...and running for president based on his foreign policy experience.

The same guy who said Putin was president of Germany.

Quote:
Unfortunately for McCain, that wasn’t an isolated slip. Among the other lapses:

• “Somalia” for “Sudan”: As recounted in a reporter’s pool report from McCain’s Straight Talk Express bus on June 30, the senator said while discussing Darfur, a region of Sudan: "How can we bring pressure on the government of Somalia?"

Senior adviser Mark Salter corrected him: “Sudan.”

• “Germany” for “Russia”: A YouTube clip from last year memorializes McCain referring to Vladimir Putin of Russia — following a trip to Germany — as “President Putin of Germany.”

• This spring, McCain said troops in Iraq were “down to pre-surge levels” when in fact there were 20,000 more troops than when the surge policy began.

• Also this spring, McCain twice appeared to mistake Sunnis and Shiites, two branches of Islam that split violently.

• In Phoenix earlier this month, McCain referred to Czechoslovakia, which has been divided since Jan. 1, 1993, into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He also referred to Czechoslovakia during a debate in November and a radio show in April.

• In perhaps the most curious incident, McCain said earlier this month that as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, he had tried to confuse his captors by giving the names of Pittsburgh Steelers starting players when asked to identify his squadron mates. McCain has told the story many times over the years — but always correctly referred to the names he gave as members of the Green Bay Packers.

Isn't it interesting that Mr. McCain's continuing errors are concentrated in what he claims is his area of "expertise" - foreign affairs?

Interestingly scary. And the McCainiacs are saying it's our fault for pointing to his flubs.

Re McCain's four or seven houses. Turns out he either forgot or didn't know that he doesn't own any.

Gee, who would have thought that "The Jovial One" once worked for some establishment that is by all ethics of journalism supposed to give serioius and reliable facts untainted by bias? Not I. Then again, op-ed writing seems to be befitting for you. Do you love your job which allows you, either then or now, to spew your hatred of your fellow Americans into other people's mailboxes every morning?

Which newspaper did you work for and for how long?

Anyway, I do not think the McCain gaffes are a real issue. For most of his life it was called Czechoslovakia and he was born at a time when countries like Manchukuo or Tuvan Republic still existed. So the man made a mistake once in a while so what?

This is all you liberals have. You can't debate the facts, so you must distract people's attention by focusing on stupid little things like this and ridicule his mistakes while ignoring his message. You also have assinine catchphrases and ad hominem attacks against him like "McSame" or calling him old. You try to play on people's emotions because your arguments are emotion rather then fact based. This is a joke.

Obama has done the same thing over and over again, but of course facts don't matter to the emotional left....

Well, any way we have a gigantic progress in comparison with Mr. Bush jr. who confused Austria and Australia.

I think I've figured out why McCain messed up on Czechoslovakia.

I believe that Wakko Warner is his geography advisor.
