Default Thanks to the Surge!

Thanks to the decisions of Pres. Bush---the foresight of John McCain---and our wonderful military, Obama is able to visit this "former hotbed" area inside Iraq. Had we done what Obama wanted to do---which was cut and run a long time ago-- this would NOT be possible:

BAGHDAD - Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama traveled to a former hotbed of the Sunni insurgency on Tuesday for talks with tribal leaders who joined the fight against al-Qaida in Iraq and now seek a deeper role in Iraq's political future.

would not have been possible if Bush hadn't gone to war in the first place? Yeah we know.

When Obama walks down PA Ave into the Whitehouse next year you can thank Bush for that too...

Does anyone think Obama would be brash enough (assuming he gets elected) to claim the Iraq successes as his own?

Had we done what Senator Obama wanted to do -- which was to continue our focus on bin Laden et al and NOT invade/occupy Iraq -- the non-successful surge would never have occurred in the first place.

Want to try again?

How many threads are the neocons gonna start on THIS issue now, while continuing to ignore the very reasons Bush GAVE for the Surge, and the fact that they have not been met?

Seriously... every time one of these guys or gals posts a thread on this subject, we on the other side have been (and need to continue) reminding them WHY Bush launched the "Surge"...

Quote:
"Our troops will have a well-defined mission: to help Iraqis clear and secure neighborhoods, to help them protect the local population, and to help ensure that the Iraqi forces left behind are capable of providing the security that Baghdad needs.” - Bush
So... are they "capable" of providing the security that Baghdad needs?

Yes? BRING OUR TROOPS HOME!

No? THEN THE SURGE HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL.

Either it HAS worked, or it has NOT. WHICH IS IT???

Progress is fine and dandy! Me likee progress.

The neocons aren't CLAIMING "progress."

They're saying "the surge has WORKED!"

Well? If so, then I guess the troops can be redeployed. Right?

Again... has the "surge" achieved the aims Bush set out for it when he said...

"Our troops will have a well-defined mission: to help Iraqis clear and secure neighborhoods, to help them protect the local population, and to help ensure that the Iraqi forces left behind are capable of providing the security that Baghdad needs.”

Yes? Then we can redeploy the troops.

No? Then it HASN'T WORKED!!!

One or the other, kids. It can ONLY be one or the other.
