Default Mexican Army Crosses Border, Accosts Border Patrol Agent at GUNPOINT

http://www.policelink.com/news/44119...costs-bp-agent

Anyone see any problems with this?

Quote:
It was unclear what the soldiers were doing in the United States, but U.S. law enforcement authorities have long said that current and former Mexican military personnel have been hired to protect drug and migrant smugglers.

“Unfortunately, this sort of behavior by Mexican military personnel has been going on for years,” union Local 2544 of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) said on its Web page. “They are never held accountable, and the United States government will undoubtedly brush this off as another case of ‘Oh well, they didn’t know they were in the United States.’

“It is fortunate that this incident didn’t end in a very ugly gunfight,” said the local’s posting.

...
Since 1996, there have been more than 200 confirmed incursions by the Mexican military into the United States.

Local 2544, the largest in the NBPC, is headed by veteran Border Patrol agent Edward “Bud” Tuffly II. He noted on the Web page that the local’s leadership would “withhold further comment on this incident until we see how our leaders handle it.”

“We don’t have much confidence in most of them,” the local’s posting said.
People, this is an act of war. Why isn't our federal government dealing with this appropriately?

Something is very, very wrong with this.

Of course, I've always thought that we should line the border with land mines......

I find it extremely ironic that many of those who claimed that Bush was the worst president in history claim that Obama is possibly the greatest thing to ever happen. If it is policy you are concerned with, then Obama is simply more of the same. More spending, more deficit, more foreign involvement, more government intervention, and more government regulation. Only a true partisan would claim that Obama represented change as the only change is the party he's from.

Because Bush chooses to ignore it. He was failed in his duty to secure the border.

Nothing new, it has been going on for years.

Our government just ignores this stuff for some reason. We should have the National Guard on the border shooting them as they cross. This is ridiculous. If Americans cross into Mexico without the proper papers, they get thrown in the brig for God knows how long, what do we do? We set them up with an SS # and a job. Frickin insane.

I watched a movie my brother sent me entitled "Border", that one will seriously open your eyes to the border problem.

Come now Truth, I usually agree with your stuff, but putting this solely on Bush's hands is not truthful. I agree, he hasnt done awhole lot but he has done a little bit, not nearly enough I agree but it is a start.

The border has been a problem for alot longer then the past 7 years.

This is so freaking wrong. Our border isn't worth (*)(*)(*)(*) and our government just stands by.

I wrote a long paper on Immigration deterrents a while back, but the highlights are:
- Bring our entire military back to the US (minus personnel needed for Embassy protection) and line them on the border
- Use the various branches (Intel, PM, Engineer, etc) to their fullest extent
- Let the local PDs have immigration powers to arrest illegals (give them grants for overtime, gear, hiring, etc)
- Give illegals a time frame to leave on their own accord.
- After that period ends let the locals along with state and federal officials round-up and clean house
- Fine businesses for hiring illegals and use that money to send the illegals back.
- And yes I even discussed how it's just not Mexican illegals here in the US, but many nationalities. Hell, many non-Mexican/Hispanic illegals, still use the Mexican border to cross over. It's so much easier.

I heard an interview of a border patrol agent the other day who said that the mexican soldiers will confront a single agent on the U.S. side and when the agent calls for back up and they see the trucks coming they go back across the border. This pulls many border patrol agents away from their post making it possible for smuglers to get across. He also said that they were in a place that the border was clearly marked.
