Default Are liberal whiners contemplating the Fairness Doctrine again?

Should the democrats win big this November, the Fairness Doctrine may be on the table again, but the whining liberal loons might be in for a big surprise:

The News is and has been delivered by the Left for decades; what the left wants to accomplish through the fairness doctrine is the means for Americans to rebut that news without a socialist standing close by to deny the rebutal any measure of authority.

/Yawn

You guys can't get by with stopping freedom of speech anymore, but by god you can do the next best thing (better in many respects) and deny people the freedom to be heard/to hear.

Tell me, why should I assume that the right's opposition to this is as partisan as you'd describe the left's support to be; ie. despite teh talking points about liberty and w/e, you just want it this way as its working for you?

the must ironic thing about the fairness doctrine was once it was removed the amount of right-wing talk shows, channels, and stations skyrocketed. So much for the liberal media since right-wing shows out number left-wing shows.

Oh yeah there is no liberal media, the media is business and they need to make money anyway they can. You can't make money if you are going against the grain of your audience (simply marketing 101)

It is about freedom of speech and marketing = business. The liberals have not done so well only in talk radio, which makes up a very small percentage of the American audience. You should really read the second link in my first post, which explains in detail the idiocy of the FD. The point of this thread is the fact the even the internet will be forced to comply, and the internet is a news forum bastion for liberals.

It will get shot down. I don't know how you could enforce the fairness doctrine on the internet. Law enforcement has hard time as it is catching real child predators so I'd doubt the fairness doctrine can be enforced. As much as the fairness doctrine seems like good idea it's too open to abuse and I hope it gets shot down. The abuse can come from any source whether it's right-wing or left-wing.

Agreed, but there are many on the left that don't hold that same thought. And as the article says, if they win big in November, things could change in that direction.

Yeah then we can have great things like state controlled media outlets! You may like it but I prefer to get information that I make decisions on not from the government, a little thing like biased could influence it. Take for example Russia Today, Chinese media and Goebbels and his propaganda all of which missed/are missing out huge critical details that are against their respective governments. Another word is Propaganda.

It is amazing that many on this forum that don't see it that way, and their partisan eyes are blinded by their hatred for what the other side says. What you said is exactly true, a good post indeed.
