Default Our we safe from terrorists

Bush is tough because he’s been steadfast in keeping our troops in Iraq.
His supporters remind us that the terrorists in Iraq are allied with the same Al Quaida bunch that flew planes into the World Trade Center in NYC.

Bush stated himself that Iraq is the “number one front on terror”

And therefore by implication his steadfast consistent behavior allows us all to be safer here at home.

But Home Land Security while necessary is not keeping us as safe as some of us think.
There is a lot lacking in Home Land Security, but not entirely because the program itself is bad, but because of the near impossible reach of its mission.
A time magazine article stated that there were between 20 to 30 million immigrants in the U.S. and we can’t keep track of them all. Our borders are porous and thousands of immigrants sneak into the U.S. along our border with Mexico. The terrorists of the Middle East are aware of our border problems. Also millions of cargo containers, which cannot be examined, are shipped into the U.S. and can be exploited by the terrorists.

Of necessity our intelligence activity has greatly improved, but that's only because after the WTC attack we were compelled to do so and a disaster of that proportion makes you really start to focus in on who is after you. But until that disaster the Bush administration showed no signs of making an improvement in our intelligence capabilities. To be fair, neither did any previous administration.

Homeland Security can be improved but no matter how you look at it, it’s a difficult problem for anyone to tackle. Also improvement would cost money and with the Federal Budget Deficit that the Democrats…oops I mean the Republicans are running, (they do dominate congress and the executive branch) dollars just aren’t as plentiful as we would like them to be.

D. Cheney talked about how we would slip back into the pre- 9/11 mentality with Kerry.

But it only took 19 terrorists to destroy the WTC. It doesn’t take that many of them to sneak into our country and plant a bomb in a subway or train here in the U.S.
And it they do, we can only attack Iraq once.

But the Bushies still holler that somehow we’re safer with Junior than Kerry.

But I think the Bushies are L… I won’t say it.
