Default Confidence in War on Terror and Iraq at Highest Level Ever

Quote:

Voter confidence in the War on Terror is at the highest level ever recorded since Rasmussen Reports began regular tracking in January 2004. Fifty-four percent (54%) of American voters now think the United States and its allies are winning the war. The previous high-water mark for optimism--52%--was reached a handful of times in September and October 2004.

Optimism about the situation in Iraq is also at an all-time high. Forty-eight percent (48%) now expect the situation in that troubled country to get better over the next six months. Only 17% expect things to get worse. In addition to being the most optimistic assessment ever recorded, these numbers reflect a remarkable turnaround over the past year. Last August, just 27% thought things were going to get better while 47% were pessimistic.

Maybe American's are optimistic because George Bush is finally leaving office?

Support our troops. Allow them to come home alive and well.

Good news.

kaspy - The job of a member of the US military is to serve the United States of America. The belief by many anti-war people is that they think that the job of the US military is to protect the United States from attack and that people join the US military to protect the US from attack. Additionally they think that the US military should not be used to intervene in the affairs of other countries. To that I ask two simple questions:
What country would possibly be crazy enough to directly attack the United States?
Why would anyone sign up for the US military under the belief that they were merely going to protect the country in case of an attack when almost every time the US military has been used it has been to intervene in the affairs of another country?
