How exactly is global warming political?

Well, ya see Toby, it works like this. We release CO2 into the air. CO2 is a greenhouse gas, meaning it traps the heat in Earth's atmosphere. Because there is more heat in the atmosphere, the water is hotter, especially near the equator. Because the water is hotter, hurricanes can form over it more, and there can be faster winds.

Leave it to the Right to ignore science. I can't find it, but their are sources saying that most of the strongest and worst hurricanes have been in the last decade or so, or even less.

Look in the mirror to see who is politicizing the occurrence.
