Default URGENT: We (the Democrats) need a "hurricane strategy" NOW!

Timing is everything here, fellow Democrats! Hurricane Gustav is all over the news and unfortunately, things are looking fairly positive for New Orleans this time. So why is that a problem?

Because with all the good news about how the evacuation was handled this time as compared to the disaster from Katrina 3 years ago, we are running the risk of making the REPUBLICANS look good, and we cannot have that!

The massive failures that happened before, during and after Katrina are well documented, and we Democrats did our best to try and attach much of that (wrong as we were) to George Bush. Most TV news viewers bought into it and we ended up making Bush look like the Katrina culprit.

What we DIDN'T want people to understand was that New Orleans was in-large-part a city of welfare recipients living in a state run by US... the Democrats, for decades.

Now fast forward to today and we've got a REPUBLICAN governor (Bobby Jindal) in Louisiana and he stole the show from the N'Awlins mayor. Nagin was apt to simply repeat history, but Jindal would have NONE of it and sure enough, the state was prepared this time around. To make matters worse for us, the Republican governor worked hand-in-hand with the FEMA folks BEFORE the hurricane hit, unlike former Democrat Governor Kathleen Blanco who was a total embarrassment to our party.

So now that we're in campaign season, we need to spin this around and find a way to bash Bush and Cheney and McCain and Palin. Anybody got any ideas out there? Please share them. We need to shamelessly take advantage of this disaster for our party's own good!

Vote for Obama... "CHANGE WE CAN ALL BELIEVE IN"

The evacuation wasn't successful in the slightest. Normal hurricanes are not cause for evacuation and most residents never evacuate. In Katrina, most people stayed, as is normal, then the levee-broke (a case of human error), flooding the city and making evacuation exponentially more difficult. This time around, they wasted time, money, a workforce, and tax-dollars evacuating millions (?), when not a single person needed to be leave (as is the case with 99.9999% of New Orleans hurricanes).

It should have been a one-day holiday, then back to business as usual. I'm not a hurricane-expert, yet I knew with absolute conviction, even when the hurricane was still a 4, that it wouldn't be a problem. It is like everything Bush does... not enough terrorism-watch pre-9/11, too much after.
