Default HA HA! Amy Goodman Gets Arrested At The RNC In Minneapolis !

Minneapolis: Democracy Now's Amy Goodman gets arrested and charged with conspiracy to riot

http://waronyou.com/forums/index.php?topic=851.0

I love the excuse democracy now gives for her arrest. See here >> http://www.democracynow.org/blog/200...ted_at_the_rnc

Quote:
Goodman was arrested while attempting to free two Democracy Now! producers who were being unlawfuly detained. They are Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar. Kouddous and Salazar were arrested while they carried out their journalistic duties in covering street demonstrations at the Republican National Convention. Goodman’s crime appears to have been defending her colleagues and the freedom of the press.
No kidding you got arrested you moron! Dont screw with the Police when they are doing their job!!!!

This has become a country where patriotic Americans are arrested for trying to exercise the freedoms guaranteed by our constitution and bill of rights.

You think that's funny. I'm sure you consider yourself a patriot and yet you seem to hate our freedoms. Strange, isn't it?

Amy Goodman, I'm willing to bet, is a lot more intellegent than you. So, if she is a moron, what does that make you?

From the more objective accounts of the incident, I think it's very likely the charges against Goodman will be dropped once the DA has a look at the facts.

As for anyone who rejoices in the arrest and manhandling of journalists, may I invite you to leave our country and go live in Russia where you belong, because you are as anti-American as they come.

They should have used the billy clubs.

My dad taught me at a young age when a policeman tells you to do something, do it. If you have a complaint make it after you do what the policeman says.

She was pushing past them and then against them instead of doing what she was told. Liberal toads think they can do whatever they want because of whom they are.

So if a police officer is doing something illegal, then you should not attempt, even as a citizen independent from the victim, to cease that illegal activity because they are police officers? Even though that activity is still illegal for a police officer to be engaging in.

So if a police officer gave you their gun and told you to shoot someone, you would? Wow.

Pushing past them and against them? OH DEAR, break out the billy clubs, don't want to intimidate McSame and his cronies from having their little Republican party! And don't want the other anti-war protesters to get any ideas! Better beat them like Rodney King or Malace Green? AMIRIGHT?

Amy Goodman, and apparently the two reporters also arrested with her, have been released as far as ive been able to find out.

I'm looking for a good source that directly references it, but all I can find is vague mentioning. However if anyone can provide one, please do.

Thumbs down Wow.

This is the best you can do isn't it? I just watched the video, and for one, I don't see her threatening or doing anything illegal to warrant an arrest. Not only did she not try to push past anyone, it was the policeman who made the first move. If someone told me to not peacefully assemble you'd bet your sweet republican behind I'd cry fowl. I guess this is just another attempt by Republicans to take away our freedoms. Pathetic.

I suggest you read George Lakoff's "Don't Think of an Elephant!" for understanding into the right-wing mindset that has been sown into our country. It's all about the emotional crutch of a strong father-figure, whose authority and morality are absolute. Thus they don't see this kind of brutality as a problem; government by nature should be heavy-handed on anyone they see as threatening their absolute, immovable, black-and-white worldview. All of this is wrapped into a victim mentality: we're the lone bearers of absolute truth and ethics, and the world wants to destroy us. It's a classic mindset that the likes of David Koresh and Jim Jones exploited (and the evangelical movement is exploiting now). The media is a prime example of this: it is the media's role to examine the use, misuse, and plain abuse of power. But if the man in power is morally unquestionable in your worldview, then the media itself is "against us". This is why they celebrate thuggery on our soil while decrying it at the same time in Russia or Burma.

Until the meme of the strong father figure government is discredited in more people's minds, we will unfortunately see further deterioration of Western culture.
