Which is an incredibly stupid reason for keeping it around. Cities are places where large amounts of people come together in a relatively small area. Obviously, that's the most effective place for candidates to focus their attention. Considering that with the exception of some places in the midwest, most people are within a couple of hours drive of a major city, I really see no problem at all with candidates focusing only on cities. However, it would be nice if candidates were campaigning to all of the states instead just the swing states, which getting rid of the electoral college would cause to happen.
