My son is a M240B Gunner deployed near the Afghanistan/Pakistan Border. He came home for his mid-deployment leave a month ago. This is his first deployment. I asked him who he was going to vote for and he offhandedly said McCain, like it was a foregone conclusion. Based on this, I would say his battle buddies are mainly conservative voters. I told him that the country seemed to be getting tired of war. He looked genuinely hurt as if to say, "Why? Are they fighting it?" My son is a very nice guy and he loves his job. By the way, I am voting for Obama.

Spare, how many of your posts have actually been arguments, replies, or thoughts, and how many have just been pointless insults and sarcasm? Why do you keep baiting people to swap insults with you? If you disagree with someone, and you don't feel like you can change his or her mind, just stay quiet and move on to another thread. You add nothing to the debate, all you do is lower the tone.

I hope this isn't one of those if you're not supporting the government you're not supporting the troops things. In Britain most people would probably be anti-war, but equally most people would most assuredly support our troops because their simply doing their jobs and have put in this position by politicians. There's an easy distinction. And, by they way, how much is the government supporting the troops given their after care post-conflict and the extraordinarily high level of homeless people who are ex-service?

I have sat here and watched you post the same ol' stuff, be refuted and disproved time after time after time, but yet you refuse to acknowledge it, and you continue to trash up the threads with your nonsense. The fact is ... your posts are a joke, and don't deserve fair commentary. I would suggest that you might want to look at your own posts before commenting on others.

IF you don't like what I post, then I suggest you complain to a mod. Until then, back the hell off. I will post what I want, when I want, and where I want.

Congratulations and thank you to your son.

Sounds like he's got his head on straight ... maybe you should listen why.

I'm still confused about what "support the troops" means. What am I supposed to do?
My take on "supporting the troops" is that it is a meaningless phrase meant to create conflict and distract from the real issues. All somebody has to do is say "you don't support the troops" then he has to defend himself rather than participate in an actual discussion.

"Adam Kokesh, member of Iraq Vetarans Against The War protested John McCain’s speech tonight during the Republican National Convention. How ironic and somewhat foolish it is to hear the Republican war mongers yelling “U-S-A, U-S-A” to try to shout down a veteran who happens to disagree with the Iraq War. Watch the video of the event. I paused it during the Kokesh footage so you can see the signs he held up.

I applaud Kokesh for having the bravery to serve this country in Iraq, realize that it was wrong, and continuing to stand up as a true patriot who takes protecting the Constitution seriously."
