Speaking as a war veteran myself (oooh snap) I'd say that your reaction is typical.
Truth is the majority of presidential campaign dollars donated by active duty and veteran members of the military went to *anti*-war candidates.

This goes for partisans from both sides of the aisle: Don't mistake your party for your country and don't put your words in our (i.e. the troops) mouths.

Didn't you get the memo they represent the troops, they are the Real Patriots and anyone who disagrees is anti-american and anti-troop.

BTW ask them what they have done for the troops or America's veterans and see what kind of response you get.

No that's what over 1,200 of "you" think. I have tons of friends that aren't out for 15 minutes of fame that are currently serving. Most of the military sees purpose in what they're doing and approve of it.

Adam is a cool guy for the record, discharged for smuggling a handgun and didn't become a protestor until the Military refused to move it to an honorable discharge.

"I have plenty of friends" is a poorly composed sample. Overwhelmingly, the active duty and retired servicemembers have been putting their money into anti-war candidates. There's no way around that fact regardless of how many wells you attempt to poison.
We did not sign up and put our lives on the line for a party or "nation building". We had an expectation that we'd only be put in harm's way to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. People like yourself betrayed that trust, claimed your views as ours, and slapped a ribbon on your cars thinking that is "supporting the troops".
Well I'm here to tell you it's not. If you want to really support the troops, you'll spare our efforts for an honorable mission, give us the best equipment, training, and leadership, and take good care of us when (and if) we come home.
And just maybe if you think these exercises in "spreading freedom" across the globe while eroding it here at home are worthy, you'll get up from your computer desk and go take somebody's place that doesn't believe in it.

it is a mistake to throw out the language of equal worth because of its contingent historical association with Western power.

Truth is most active duty military members dont contribute to campaigns because they attempt to maintain apoliticalness while serving but they do vote.You, being a former member of the military,must already know how the military vote will actually go come November.
