Poland to pull troops from Iraq by end of 2005: defense minister

WARSAW (AFP) - Poland will pull all of its troops out of Iraq (news - web sites) by the end of 2005, with Defense Minister Jerzy Szmajdzinski for the first time setting a firm timetable for withdrawal by this key US ally

"The Bush administration is of course going to be disappointed," political analyst Krzystof Bobinski told AFP.

Until now the Polish government had said it would reduce its military presence in Iraq in 2005.

Poland sent 2,500 troops to Iraq last year in the wake of the US-led invasion and heads up a multinational division of 6,000 soldiers in south-central Iraq.

According to the latest poll, more than 70 percent of Poles are opposed to the presence of their country's troops in Iraq.

Default .

So long for the "huge" George Bush coalition.

Did you know Marroco is also in the coalition by sending monkeys to walk over minefields??? So far the US has not fully used that service however.

I'm surprised that dumb ass (Bush) didn't mention the monkeys that Marocco contributed to walk over the mines!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...............oh god, he's so dumb.

When he looks in the camera straight, sometimes he reminds me at a donkey.

Default Why do you think this is funny?

People are dying left and right over there, and it's not just Americans, innocent Iraqi civilians are being killed by their own people. And you think its funny that countries are pulling out because of their own selfish ambitions? Shame on you.

Default Despite the Liberals who trivialize our allies....

... and despite the fact that some may pull out, I am grateful for the fact that they were willing to sacrifice just like we have for the Iraqi people and not abandon them on a whim. They deserve our respect, our thanks, and not our ridicule.

Default Bush haters/America haters

Only liberals could find any humor in the situation. We already know that Rolex hates America. And the others hate Pres. Bush so much, they are willing to hurt America in the process.

You know.....I didn't repect Bill Clinton. But never, ever, ever.....would I have EVER hoped for and found glee in some kind of failure when he used our military. For instance.....when our military accidentally bombed the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia......I didn't laugh my head off....as these wierd-o America haters on this board do. I do believe you would ALL sell-out your own country.....as long as you thought you'd be getting George W. Bush in the process. Disgusting....

They don't give a crapola, Hans. And I have no doubt that were John Kerry to become president....you'd see a 180 degree turnaround by them......as soon as he took over. Suddenly.....you'd see them being 100% in support of whatever he decided to do in Iraq. Even if it's the same thing we're doing now..... IT'S ALL POLTIICAL WITH THESE PEOPLE....AND ONLY POLITICAL. IT'S NEVER ABOUT WHAT IS BEST FOR OUR COUNTRY.

Default Some of you are clueless

BTW, for all you who don't seem to be aware of this fact: In April of this year, Poland was only going to keep their troops in Iraq until elections planned for January of 2005. Extending that until the end of 2005 is very, very positive for us and for Iraq. This isn't bad news.....it's good news!!!!!

Default NO ONE LAUGHING AT POLAND LEAVING

Let's be serious. The only reason Poland joined the coalition is that it wanted to curry favor with us and to "pay us back" for supporting Poland's entry into NATO. Poland wanted to get into NATO because they only have that almost a country of Belarus separating them and that old Evil Hideous former empire called Russia directly EAST of them. Poland also knows that NATO membership was another punch of the entry ticket into the EU.

Poland could otherwise care less about whether IRAQ is "free" or if there was or was not any terrorists there before the invasion.

Other countries made similar decisions to send troops. Ukraine sent over 2000 troops and joined the Poland led command. Ukraine is in the PARTNERSHIP FOR NATO a sort of NATO LIte on carbs deal. Ukraine would like to be a full NATO partner some day. It fears that monster Russia to it's North. Ukraine also sees that the Poland model worked to get into the EU. Ukraine also has a potential Muslim terrorist problem since of it's own since there are about 20 % TARTAR Muslims of the population in southern province of the Crimea. Ukraine may be cooperating today because tomorrow it may need help against it's own Muslim Tartar minority if they turn into terrorists. The Tartars may learn from the Chechens.

So you see a lot of our smaller allies want something from us they are not there because they beleived that Iraq should have been invaded.
