Default McCain: Any Co that gets Bailout $'s Can't pay CEO more than US Pres

Yes. 'No more than the highest paid Federal employee'.

That would cap some bank and broker CEO salaries at $400,000 a YEAR!

LOL.

Many make $400,000 a WEEK now..... $20,000,000 a YEAR or even $20,000,000 in BONUS alone a Year.

He's certainly movin his "I'm the deregulator" position around the last few weeks.

Head of Morgan Stanley or Goldman Sachs making 400K a year (Volunteer work) is a funny and delightful thought. Not to mention the Thousands of Wall street traders who make much much more.
Of course most would just quit.

It's cute, but that's pretty much all it is, I think.

I don't like anyone setting limits on how much a person can make at their jobs. However, I think McCain means "only in regards to this bailout." These CEO's....including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's CEO's KNEW darn well when they were taking their bonuses and mainipulating returns so that they made sure to get their big bonus payouts that their companies were in trouble. That's no difference that whas the Enron execs did---and they went to jail.

These companies are in trouble and it's going to take top-notch leaders to get them back to health. You won't get that for 400K a year.

Was there fraud, or mismanagement? Enron was fraud, and lots of it.

Exactly my thoughts. The people that actually have the knowledge and ability to salvage these companies are few and far between. Hiring a mid-level executive manager would cost the nation dearly.

Now if you offered 10% of the taxpayers money that a CEO could recoup you could probably get some takers. Isn't AIG bailout something like $80 billion and if a CEO could return all of that money to the government he would get $8 billion!!! I think me might find some qualified takers.

i don't think the problem is the salary. The problem lies in the fact that there is near no repercussion when someone doesn't do his job well.

People will make (*)(*)(*)(*) well sure they do a good job if that 20 million can be taken back when the job is done poorly.

Hes talking about the outgoing CEO can only make 400k, not that the bailout CEO can only make 400k. I ask what would happen to you if you made bad decisions that cost your compnay 80 billion dollars, you think they would kick you out the door with a 20 million dollar bonus.

This was fraud. How was it that I could see they were giving out bad loans, but the CEO's could not. How can a CEO who is supposedly smart even brilliant at his job and economics not see that giving poor people, ARMs and interst only loans, was not going to lead to calamity. What happened at these companies was criminal, but no ones going to jail, becasue the washington crowd was right in the middle of this, demanding that t he banks loan money to poor neighborhoods, and they would look the other way when it went south.

It's time to make a change in Washignton, I am willing to vote for Barrack Obama, if you are willing to vote every single congressmen out of office. There needs to be a revolution in Washington, and getting rid of all the dead weight would be a start. This would send a message that bussiness as usual doesnt get it anymore.
