Default (*)(*)(*)(*) Americans, (*)(*)(*)(*) Jews?

http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles...e.asp?ID=15464

Here is a link to a very disturbing account from an American expatriate in London. I would not have expected this much of a reaction by the average intelligent European. To European posters, is this your experience?

Default Can't speak of anything current

I lived in England as a child, from around 1973- 1976. I can tell you that on more than one occasion, I had snide remarks thrown the way of a 8-11 year old child. I remember going into a local petrol station to buy a candy bar in the well to do London suburbs that we lived in and have the man at the counter call me a bloody American as I turned to walk out the door. This was one of many such small and basically harmless encounters. But I can say that there has been an undercurrent of anti-Americanism for decades over there.

Default Sad!!!!

This is the saddest truism in that article;

Quote:
Europe created the Holocaust, the Inquisition and other genocides. Anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism proliferated long before the Bush Administration came onto the scene in 2000. Anti-Americanism is not a result of Abu Ghraib or of a Rumsfeldian pronouncement. It is a disturbing and hurtful form of psychosis that is rapidly eroding the all-important special relationship.
They had better hope that Europe does not birth another Hitler! They just might have to save their own butts alone next time.

Default Jealousy

Jealousy is powerful. They want what we have. The lower elements over there just can't hide it too well is all.

How can this be? George Bush wasn't president back then. Do you mean to tell us that George Bush isn't the cause of anti-American sentiment?

Default reminds

me of the ticking off that Greg Palast wrote in the UK book about living in England, and the stupidity of the european left.

Default This is very typical

and it reminds me of my childhood growing up in South Korea. Though many Koreans were awed by seeing a blond haired child (they had never seen one before), many were rude, and even hateful. I can't tell you the amount of "F-You American!" comments I heard while I was over there. If it exists in countries that are our "friends", I don't even want to know what happens in hostile nations.

Americans may well become the modern day Jews. People around the world live in terrible situations, while Americans enjoy prosperity. Thus, SOMEONE has to be blamed for their own misery, and they selected the obvious suspects, Americans.

That story is so much BS its untrue. Kinda in-line with the content of the rest of that site tho.

Yeah, everytime I go out on duty where my biggest threat is being punched, I wish I was in America. Wish we had a gun culture too

Tex, Europe didnt birth Hitler, Austria did. Did you know that? Look it up in a book. Like the arrogance tho, nice touch. We could go into the millions of innocent lives lost, both Civvie and Military, the Battle of Britain....which we won all on our iccle ownsome to turn back the German invasion, the countless battles won with dozens of allied countries, but you stick to your own little blinkered Stars 'n Stripes world my friend, its much more comfortable. Ignorance is bliss eh? All I can say is that, being ex-military, its a good job your Squaddies dont share your attitude and arrogance.

You may well find anti-americanism in England, but it'll be tucked in behind the anti-French, anti-immigration, anti-Pakistani feelings that the slightly more 'intellectually challenged' members of our society have. We all have narrow-minded eejits in our ranks who get us all tarnished with the same brush.

1/ story BS - even if there is a hint of truth...you get that same type of person in every country.

2/i agree there is minor anti-americanism...but if your unpopular with someone....it usually mean that it's something you've done!...think about that.

3/You saved no-one in WW2 without UK, Russia, China, various partisans america would have been wiped out...america only entered the war because she knew if we lost, she'd be next. Lets not forget, you weren't fighting the japs on your own either!

4/jealous? ha, of what. America/canada is so artificial - only thing im jealous of is the type of guns you can have....though you really need licencing/restrictions sorted out.
