Let me tell you this is not a hard-core political post and putting partisan politics aside, a brief summary of a couple scenarios regarding recent events:


2005 and 2003:
We cannot put more restrictions on the GSEs. The poor and underprivileged need homes, the GSEs provide them. Putting restrictions on them would make it harder for the poor and underprivileged to get these loan.

now 2008
We cannot put restrictions on this bailout. The corporations in trouble need this money now. Putting restrictions on the bailout would make it harder for the companies in trouble to get the money they need.



The parallels of the two stances made me chuckle. I think I hear an echo...
