It sounds like Bush want to do the bailout independent of any oversight or regulation. As i understand it this is the sticking point with Congress. The amount of the bailout is a second sticking point.

Personally, I don't think the banks will go down if this isn't done by Friday and I'm not sure the amount of money proposed is needed to do this. I would also like to see oversight and regulation be part of the bailout - and for institutions that violate those regs to have to pay back the bailout cash.

Its a situation where there is no good solution only bad or worse. The bailout I think is bad but necessary considering where we are even though I'm in principal against bailouts. The worse is the status quo. I think everyone should stop the blame game and have a solution b/c quit frankly both political parties are to blame along with the banks and Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae and the people who bought mortgages they couldn't afford. There is too much blame to go around.

Didn't get to see it, still no tv reception.
But from what I've been able to follow via internet, I think there has to be a limit on what the CEOs get to carry away from all this.
And I would feel more like it means something if there is protection in there for the people. The actual people, not just the banks, insurance companies, etc...who had and lost millions upon millions.

And oh mercy yes, there needs to be oversight and regulation attached to this. Good Lord, that's like me turning my ATM card over to the eleven year old, setting him lose at Game Stop and telling him, "here have fun!" and then being surprised when the bill comes in.
