I've taken economics, finance, and accounting courses at two schools and encountered probably half Republicans versus Dems (of those where I know their political affiliation). That's in those fields, in other areas it would be more like 95/5 dem versus Repub.

I've been beaten (literally) senseless for expressing my political beliefs. ....Though I suppose it wasn't the wisest thing ever to be wearing a shirt that on the front depicted a Jesus fish being eaten by a larger one which had "Reality Bites" written inside and on the back said "religion makes terrorists" in rural Texas.
