Default Mandate????????

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) appeared on CBS, to provide Democrat talking points: “It is not a mandate …. I hope he will govern from the center. He only won through tearing down his opponent. And that is not a mandate. It’s simply a return to office.

Over 51% popular and electoral votes plus clear stated purpose and intentions equals mandate.

So what for?
fix social security ie. partial privatization
fight terrorism
win in Iraq
simplify tax code
increase intelligence
raise accountability standards in school
halving the record $413 billion deficit
expanding health care coverage
a constitutional ban on gay marriage

For doing what he was doing before.

What you people keep forgetting is that you didnt just lose the presidency...you lost everywhere else too. This election was a rejection of liberal ideology. The American masses dont have confidence in your kind.

Poo-pooing conservative solutions apparently isnt enough...you will need to come up with real solutions of your own as well.

My question to those of you who hate your president...

Will you continue to impede upon progress and go kicking and screaming or will you jump in?

To those of you who intend to go kicking and screaming can I ask you please, shut up and let us lead!

Bush got it when he switched from JackDaniels to JesusChrist.

Constitutional ban.. Gotta love these neo-cons telling states what they can and cannot do. Just leave it to the individual states to decide and stop trying to grow the federal govt. It's already too big as it is.

Default Mandate

Bush has been mandated to put forth the conservative agenda that the people of this nation voted him into office to do. He has also been mandated to fight the liberal agenda to the best of his ability.

I don't think it can be a mandate when if Ohio had changed to Kerry, then Kerry would have won. Reagan, in 1988, had a mandate.

The mandate that Bush has, if any mandate was given, is to bring himself to the center. Bush could still go down as one of our better presidents if, with all the power he could want, he resists the urge to turn the government into a democratized version of the taliban. He has no more elections to win, so there is no reason why he should strictly "play to his base."

If we get out of the Bush presidency without him trying to completely change society, then I will admit that I was wrong about him and he was a better man than I expected. But if he puts into effect the Pat Robertson agenda, then he will be the man everyone who voted against him expected.

“Vote for me or the terrorists will kill you!”

That’s what people voted for. Bush got elected by the undecided, in my opinion, because he promotes fear. And, just before the election there were commercials from the RNC that proudly proclaimed that not all repubs are anti-choice, anti-gay etc etc etc. Basically saying that not all Repub support Bush’s “conservative agenda”. That won moderates and undecided voters.

This is not a huge victory of the “conservative agenda”. I don’t care what the polls say about “moral values”. Had he won in a landslide you could claim his winning had something to do with that, but it wasn’t. He was simply better at bringing in undecided voters. That’s it.

People voted for him because of his moral values. Everyone knows this, except for you apparantly.

Wow what class. Name calling and a non-answer. So much for moral values.

His conservative agenda will only serve to further divide this country. And according to his speech, that’s not what he wants to do. We’ll see.
