Default a few thoughts...

Quote:
Because most liberals... haven't had a lot of experience outside of cozy little America. They see only discrimination against Muslims from Christians, not the horrible things that fundamentalist Muslims are doing. I still opposed the war in Iraq, but not the one in Afghanistan. I think the civil rights of gays is going to be the great liberal movement of this century, but people are forgetting that women in the Middle East could sure use some help (I read a story a while back about a women who has executed because a man raped her - disgusting).
I agree. This is my experience, as well. MOst liberals haven't had a lot of experience outside of their cozy little suburbs and intellectual ivory towers, and can't even be bothered to spend time in the ghettos of cozy little America...

The women of the middle east could DEFINITELY use some help.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iraq is providing a rallying point for islamists from around the middle east. They are gathering in Iraq to attack the American forces, and expending their money, personnel, and weapons on our well-prepared killers.

Said forces being perfectly happy to kill them by the dozens.

These folks can't be reformed, MIC. They're diseased. They need to be culled from the herd before they infect others.

Sorry to sound harsh, but that's how I see it.

If the Iraqi election, on the other hand, goes as well as the one in Afghanistan did, it will send a message to other nations and people there...and I believe messages have already been sent insofar as the U.S.'s willingness to tolerate any and all threats.

If we really wanted to brutalize that area, it'd be far easier, in terms of personnel and casualties, to do so. We could have decimated Iraq leaving nothing but charred rubble if that were our wish.

Iraq is also providing a symbolic rallying point, however, igniting the flames (and boosting recruitment for and the number of actions carried out by) extremist terror organizations.

But these people were already infected, regardless.

Default Ted,

YOu may not know this, but I'm a southern woman of a certain age...you don't know me nearly well enough to refer to me as sweet'ums.

And, I did indeed vote for Bush in this election, as teen republican is well-aware.

And I suppose you'd want a chaperone also? :snort:

Fine.. be that way. And you dear lady, may now address by my full name... errrm, Mr.Tedminator.

Anyhoo.. of late, the RNC does attract, how shall we say, ...a certain type of people who would otherwise be unwelcome in proper company. Yes?

Default A chaperone...

I don't know, are you a virile young man, Mr. Tedminator? That would be a key factor in ascertaining whether a chaperone would be necessary. I am married, I'm certain my husband would wish to fill that role, if possible.

As for the company that the Republican party is attracting, given that they've recently attracted me, I'm not sure whether your intention is to insult or flatter...

Flattery, of course, is always welcomed (particularly from virile young men), given that I'm a southern woman of a certain age.

In view of present company, I see no need such formalities, m'lady.
For indeed I know your husband's lineage well.. for my greatgrandfather fought in the islands campaign as a cavalryman for the Union.

And your husband's ancestry did acquit themselves well in the field of battle, for as the american forces crushed them, a leader of theirs was heard saying "I'd rather live in hell ruled by filipinos than in heaven ruled by the americans!"... but alas, bravery is not enough.

As for membership in the Republican Party... I can never join them. You may do so at your own peril. I can only say that you will be know as having kept company with the likes of TeenRepublican.

Here's a thought If all the terrorists converge into Iraq to do battle, doesn't it seem logical that it is easier to fight them all in one place, than in all the little pockets of the world?

whew.. no wonder people took so long getting things done in the 19th century. I sooo glad to be in the 21st century.

BTW, that quote from a country the USA invaded a 100 years ago should have been something Bush kept in mind before trying to 'free' the Iraqis. No matter how well intentioned an invasion of a foreign country is, an occupied people will try to fight back.
