Default Powell resigns...

not exactly sure how many people resigned when clinton got his second term, so dont know if the few that are resigning now is a significant number. but with ashcroft and powell leaving, does this say anything about how some of bush's cabinent felt/feel about his policies?

Default Uh,

Perhaps it says that Powell, who after all spent almost 30 years in military service, and has a wife who has significant health problems, feels entitled to finally RETIRE?

Default .

I'm a little surprised by the timing of this. With Arafat dead I thought he might stick around long enough to get the roadmap back on track.

No. Bush's cabinet has been more stable then most.

Default Too bad

Although Powell has said since the very beginning of Bush's first term that he would not stay on for a second term.

I just hope that he feels free to spill the beans on this administration now that he no longer has to be "loyal" to Bush. Tell us really if Saudi Arabia was told about the Iraq war before the Secretary of State. Tell us about how badly the President ignored the State departments advice and left them out in the cold.

Default Colin Powell Turned in Resignation

Secretary of State Colin Powell is said to have already turned in his letter of resignation to Pres. Bush.....but is holding off on announcing his resignation until Bush settled on who will replace him.

This was expected.....as Powell promised his wife long ago that he would serve for 4 years only. It's a tough life being gone like that all the time.
Thank You, Colin Powell, for your service to our country!

In addition, Secretary of Energy, Spencer Abraham, is also resigning. As well as Secretary of Education, Rod Paige.

If you pay attention to politics at all (and I now know that you don't) you would know that Powell has always disliked the pressures of public offices. He was never going to serve for more than four years anyways, everyone knew he wanted out before a second term.

No, it doesn't say a thing about Bush or his policies. But it won't stop people like you and the liberal media from trying to make up stories saying that it does.....

But if he comes forward eventually and tells you that all that was a bunch of hogwash.....will you believe him? Probably not. Because the Bush-haters want to believe what they choose to believe.

Default Something Wrong????

In case anyone thinks that resignations at the end of a President's first term means something nefarious about the man and/or his policies.....consider these resignations in 1996:

Secretary of State Warren Christopher

Transportation Secretary Federico Pena

Chief of Staff Leon Panetta

Defense Secretary William Perry

Energy Secretary Hazel O'Leary

Commerce Secretary Mickey Kantor

Walter Mondale, Ambassador to Japan

To name but a few.....

Before it was all over, Clinton lost almost 1/2 of his Cabinet. So.....to the person who began this thread......did this mean there was something wrong with Clinton's first term policies?

Default .

THEY ALL SAID THEY WERE GOING TO BEFORE-HAND!!! I knew you guys would use this to your advantage. Powell already said he was going to resign even if Bush won.
