Default Wonderful World of Islam

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...366672,00.html

GEERT WILDERS, the Dutch MP and controversial critic of Islam, has two policemen by his side even when in his high-security parliamentary office in case someone tries to decapitate him. Each day, he does not know where he is going to sleep that night, as he is taken from safe house to safe house in a convoy of armoured cars.
He was taken into hiding when police investigating the murder of the film-maker Theo van Gogh on November 2 uncovered a network of radical Muslims with advanced plans to kill Mr Wilders, and other “enemies of Islam”. A video circulating on the internet offered 72 virgins in paradise to any Muslim who beheaded him.

“My life has changed completely. I am sleeping very badly. To think that someone plans to kill me is something that no person would have a good night’s rest about,” he said. “Even though I have this protection, I am afraid. Even when I am on the floor of the parliament, I don’t feel comfortable.”

The maverick parliamentarian, a former speech-writer for Frits Bolkestein, the Dutch European Commissioner, rose to prominence with his denunciations of radical Islam. Seen as the heir of Pim Fortuyn, the assassinated anti-Islamic populist, his critics call him a far-right racist, inflaming the passions that led to a spate of mosque burnings after Van Gogh’s murder. His supporters claim that he is telling the truth about radical Islam that others refuse to face up to.

His hardline message is proving popular with the Dutch electorate, whose attitudes have hardened so much in the past fortnight that, according to one survey, 40 per cent hope that Muslims no longer feel at home in the Netherlands. On Monday he will set up his own political party. Opinion polls suggest that it would be the country’s second-biggest, getting 15 per cent of the vote or 23 seats of the parliament’s 150.

Two critics of Islam have been murdered in the Netherlands, and Mr Wilders is one of three Dutch MPs under permanent police protection after half a dozen were issued with death threats. It is a huge change for the tolerant, consensual country that until recently boasted that its prime minister could cycle down the street in public.

The problem, Mr Wilders preaches, is too much tolerance. “I believe we have been far too tolerant for too long, especially being too tolerant of intolerance, and we only got intolerance back.”

With radicalism spreading among the country’s one million Muslims — 5.5 per cent of the population — Mr Wilders wants the top 150 known terrorist sympathisers, monitored by the security services, to be jailed or deported without trial, and the 20 most radical mosques closed down. He also wants a ban on all non- Western immigration for five years while better employment and education opportunities are put in place to integrate ethnic minorities into mainstream society.

“I believe people who work against our democracy, and who favour this fascistic Islamic radicalism, don’t deserve the rights of our democracy. They don’t deserve the rights of the rule of law. Without going to a judge, they should be arrested and expelled,” he said.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting change of pace for the Netherlands, bastion of tolerance and peace.

Why is this a problem? Is this racist? I think not. The above is, finally, a European country standing up and saying 'WoH!! hang on a minute, we should just stop and take stock for a while, re-assess the situation'. This is a common sense stance and one I wish my country would take. If these people are chosing not to integrate into the country they've run to, then they should be moved on. If their only interest is in perpetuating hatred in a country that is historically liberal and welcoming, they should be deported.

par·a·site ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pr-st)
n.
1. Biology. An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host.

2. One who habitually takes advantage of the generosity of others without making any useful return, normally causing injury or ill health.

There was an interview on BBC radio this week where the Pakistani PM was urging Pakistanis in England to fully embrace the culture into which they've moved, without losing site of their own beliefs and standards. This, I have no problem with.

Default I don't consider it racist at all...

I consider it a practical, common sense approach to people who are attempting to subvert your system...who have failed to take advantage of the opportunity to live in a westernized nation.

If they wish to live in the 3rd world, rather than recreating it in the west, they should go back to it.

Default They proved his point

I agree.

It's just like here in our country. Women here wear slacks, we wear shorts, and we don't cover our faces. They come here and they seem to expect for the rest of us to change; not them. But they have to know, that's not the way it works. If they are going to come to live and work in our country, they must assimilate into our society. And they must realize we have free press. If someone decides to write an Editorial about radical Islam, it doesn't give these people the right to go murder that writer.....like they did with Van Gogh in Amsterdam. All they've done is prove the point of his article.

But as the modern world and political correctness dictates, please remember that you're in no way allowed to stand up and voice your concerns regarding immigration\subversive radical ethnic groups and their impact on your society.

I have reported you both to the political correctness internet police

Default Thank God we live in the US, and not the UK,

where there might be real sanctions for daring to express an opinion.

Which is why in the next election, my vote will, for the 1st time ever, be going to the Conservatives. Dont let me down Tories.

Please note, the Nursery Rhyme

Quote:
Mary had a little lamb. Its fleece was white as snow. Everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go
Should now be recited thus

Quote:
A young person of the female gender was the possessor of a small immature ruminant of the species genus Ovis, whose outermost covering reflected all wavelengths of visible light with a luminosity equal to that of a mass of naturally occurring microscopically crystalline water. Regardless of the translational path chosen by the aforesaid young person, there was a 100% probability that the aforementioned ruminant would select the same pathway.
Thank you, the PC Police.

Default ROFLOL...interesting poem.

And, interesting political transition. I experienced something similar this election. IT was rather startling, to say the least. But I had to do it. My experiences had shown me the peril of going the other direction.

Experiences in life, day-to-day work, home and family, community, all influence how we vote. I would say my Police role has influenced greatly how I view my surroundings and how my vote impacts this. My view of liberalism, 'unconditional equality for all', has certainly changed. Nothing is unconditional, certainly not equality, only a naive fool would think so.

The Labour Government wants the Police Force to meet ever higher service level agreements, but has imposed a 3% cut on the budget, every year for the next 10 years. Doesnt sound much annually, but over the next 10years thats 30%. Almost a third. Thats my 2nd reason for voting Tory.

p.s. Still doesnt mean I'm getting in bed with Dubya tho!!!

p.p.s on the note of PC, do you know HM prison staff are no longer allowed to say 'black coffee'? They have to say 'coffee without milk or whitener'. I mean......come on.......wheres it going to end?!?!?!?!?!?

Default interesting.

Agreed. And, while I believe, in principle, in equality of rights, certainly humans are not equal in effort, ability, intellect, etc. NOr should they be artificially equalized in the manner that liberals would force, by attempting to lower some folks.

Much the same in the U.S. where many liberals are purty much anti-cop (except when the cops are running into a burning building to rescue their scared little asses). The left holds law enforcement professionals in contempt, and considers anyone in uniform to be an idiot, I'd say, even though they attempt to cloak their views in platitudes.

Not required. Baby steps, dude.

It is the double standard that really gets to me.
