Default Sales UP 10%

Good news for the economy. On the biggest shopping day of the year....the day after Thanksgiving, sales were up nationally 10% compared to last year's day after Thanksgiving. Economists see this as a good sign for merchants for this Christmas season.

Default Honestly

I don't see that as a good thing. We have become too much of a commercial society. How much do people really need? It's getting out of hand, IMO.

Default ..

When I go shopping, I buy what I need and nothing more or less. It may be better for the economy for people to use their money to buy junk, but I think it's stupid and in the end it's NOT a good thing.

It is good for the economy, though.

Default Yes, but...

Now that everyone's been buying junk and wasting their money, all they've done is encourage companies to make more junk. So, you see, it has a cycle effect.

Which would explain why compared to most European countries' industries, our products we produce in this country are crap. It all makes sense now.

Default It's a good thing.... really

More junk is manufactured. Jobs are created because manufacturers hire people to make junk. I make money with my styrofoam factory because junk gets shipped and needs to be protected from breakage during shipment. (no one wants to buy broken junk) I hire more factory workers to make more styrofoam. Then there's a guy who unpacks the junk at the stores and throws away the styrofoam into the garbage. Styrofoam gets dumped into the landfill where it will never decompose and I, the evil Corporate Republican Factory owner will have fulfilled my tiny part in the giant conspiracy to pollute the planet and create global warming.

God I love this country! Somebody pinch me.

Default OK..

..I just have one question:

Are people purchasing with Credit Cards or are they purchasing with Cash? Or maybe no-one cares???

My reason for asking is that over the last 3 years, I worked part-time for a Credit Counseling Company and what I observed b/w FEB and APRIL each year was more and more Americans falling into huge debt..And this was in times much rosier than now.

So, while it seems good for the economy in the short term, if Americans are spending money "they do NOT have", then what use is it?

After almost 14 years in this country, I have realized that at T'GIVING and XMAS, Americans will find ways to put those presents under the tree and worry about the bill later...
