"and it's dictator, Vladamir Putin, falls nicely in the line of Lenin, Stalin and Kruschev.... nothing has really changed in Russia. "

Umm, no, you're wrong. Dead wrong. Russia is moving forward at an incredible pace. And all walks of life are improving at huge rates.

Putin may be hurting democracy a bit of there, but he's no Stalin. He's responsible for much of the growth.

I agree - Putin is like the poor, put-upon bully-boy who whinges when the tables are turned and he finds himself on the receiving end. This does not, of course, excuse the greater (more successful) bully...

Default soviet union gone but Russia still a despotic oligarchy

The spirit of what you say is correct but what we have on our hands is a despotic Russia being led by a KGB thug who has crushed democracy at home in Russia and it trying to rebuild the evil empire. Russians don't c are if it's called Soviet Union, Imperial Russia, Russia and the gang of stupid friends; the evil nature of Russian imperialism comes out in most Russians along with their need to have a dictator tell them what to do and think, and Russians are happy as long as they can try and control their neighbors.

Russians always have either invaded or tried to corrupt their neighbors.

We cannot trust Russia to act like a civilized country.

Remember when the stupid Chechens killed all those kids in that Russian school ? Everyone was falling all over themselves to feel sorry for the Russians. Well I never believe that children should be harmed but I did warn everyone to just stand back a bit and learn from history.

I said them and I will say it again, the Chechens were only acting like Russians.....

Hitler hurt democracy a little, but he did grow things in Germany. Hitler also grew Germany. Under Hitler Germany grew up to the Arctic circle of Norway, to the English Channel of Normandy, to the Adriatic Sea of Greece, to the Black Sea of Ukraine, to the border of Finland, to the foothills of the Urals, to the gate of Moscov and St.Petersburg,/ St. Leningrad, St. (sic ) Stalingrad , and to what is now the country of Georgia.

Yeh Printer 2, growth is good !!!! So what if a few million people (25 - 30 - 50 million ) from various countries get killed. They had growth I tell you. Putin is giving them growth.

Bolshoi intelligentsia (sic) !!!!!!!!!! I give up !!!

You cannot blame just the Republicans. People in the USA don't really care to learn about the rest of the world so they do not know when someone is evil. Americans are great generous people who trust everyone, metaphorically speaking. It takes a Pearl Harbor, a 9/11, a horrible incidence for Americans to see what evil people can do.

Americans have just not learned about Putin and Russia yet. I hope we never have to.

Default Not to mention that it has been a longterm tendency on the

left to excuse Russian excesses....and Cuban excesses...and other excesses by fascists and communists.

Default Putin's Pique Understandable

You've got to remember that the U.S. chiding Russia for its actions in the Ukraine would be like Russia chiding the U.S. for actions it takes in Mexico. From Putin's viewpoint, Bush is pissing in his backyard pool. It's not surprising he let off a little steam.

Except that under communism Russia was a superpower, had order, was larger, wealth was better distributed etc.. Russia a as nation would have been better of under communism. The end of the cold war was only a victory for the U.S. There Russian people have gone from bad to worse.

Russia is in chaos with a struggling economy. It's gone from the worst form of socialism to the worst form of capitalism.

The left has never condemned fascism or anything associated with it and it's almost insulting to find you comparing the two.
