Putin attacks US 'dictatorship'

From correspondents in New Delhi
December 04, 2004

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin launched a blistering attack on the United States, accusing it of running a "dictatorship" over global affairs and able only to worsen humanity's problems.

He warned in a speech delivered in New Delhi overnight against attempts to rebuild the modern system of international relations along the lines of a uni-polar world. Rising single power dominance would also increase the "global threats of international terrorism, organised crime and drug trafficking," the Russian leader said.

"The greater is the danger of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their coming into hands of terrorists, the more regional conflicts will happen," he said.

"Dictatorship, the more so dictatorship in international affairs, has never solved and could not have solved such problems in the history of mankind," Putin said.

"Only a balanced democratic system of international law," could help ease those problems, he said. He did not cite the United States by name.

"Even when dictatorship is beautifully gift-wrapped in pseudo-democratic phraseology it has never been capable of resolving such systemic problems. On the contrary, it can only make them worse," Putin said.

He also accused the West of practising double standards on terrorism and questioned whether fair elections could be held in Iraq as violence persisted.

Default ROFLOL...

And yet, Putin came out strongly in support of Bush prior to the election. Interesting.

Default He didn't say that

Yes, Catz.....Putin DID come out strongly FOR President Bush. Plus, he was NOT calling Bush a "dictator" in that article above. Even though certain people are trying very hard to spin it that way.

Default NO SPIN Putin attacks US 'dictatorship'

Sorry JP5 I gotta disgree with you on this one. The KGB thug Putin may have been carefull not to call Bush a dictator but what he was saying and lieing about was that he considered US POLICY "DICTATORIAL.

Putin is still smarting because Bush/Powell had the 'balls ' on his interference with the Ukrainian elections. You how the 'empire sticks back, well Putin is trying to rebuild his evil empire so he can strike back.

We must remember that Putin is a KGB trained thug who has been trained virtually since infancy to hate us, hate our system, and hate our economic powers. He may not call himself a Communist, but he is still evil, he does evil things such as he crushed democratic opposition in his own country two years ago using assassinations staged like accidents, arrests of opposition news papers , reporters, etc.

Puitn is one evil evil man.

who are the others?

I agree - Putin is like the poor, put-upon bully-boy who whinges when the tables are turned and he finds himself on the receiving end. This does not, of course, excuse the greater (more successful) bully...

Default Yeah, right.

We need a '...balanced democratic system of international law...', so that despotic dictators and totalitarian regimes can retain their sovereignty over the poverty-ridden nations they rule, and the status quo will remain unchanged. Right on, Vladimir. Tell us about your agenda.
