Default Whatever

The right is still in the abusive feeding freenzy I see.

Just FYI, I believe in the right to own a gun and defend yourself, especially in your own property. I think there should be testing, licensing and registration at least as strick as motor vehicle rules.

But if you are in your house or business and someone points a lethal weapon at you, you can choose two choices, shoot first and ask questions later, or beg for mercy. You should have the right not to have to beg for mercy.

However, I personally would do whatever was asked and STFU. I think the risk from a gun in the house is greater than the risk of an intruder. This guy was stabbed. If he had a gun, would he have been able to get to it, remove the trigger lock, and use it? How many accidents from guns in the house occur vs. how many random people killed in robberies. I think the chances of a tragic accident with some children are greater than the chances of having to defend myself in a shoot out. So I don't keep a gun.

Statistics don't bear this out, by the by.

Default Conservatives sleep with their mothers

That subject line got your attention, didn't. Just thought I'd post something as idiotic as "Cant wait to see the liberal defense of the rights of criminals" and "being knifed to death in his own home...is sufficiently disturbing to silence the idiots, temporarily at least." But I digress.

In actuality, if any man stepped foot in my house, he'd feel a nice, weighted, lacrosse shaft that I keep next to the bed for just such a purpose coming through his skull before anything else. As far as I'm concerned, your home is your castle, defend it as you will. Anyone who says otherwise: (a) doesn't own a home; or (b) doesn't have a family.

I personally would never own a gun for home protection (see below - EuP, I'm curious to see your facts on the subject), but I wouldn't tell someone else not to.

Default Citation?

I don't suppose you're familiar with Kleck's work, eh? Or the DoJ's Guns in America: National Survey on Private Ownership and Use of Firearms?

From the source SS posted:

A gun kept in the home is 22 times more likely to be used in an unintentional shooting...than to be used to injure or kill in self-defense.

I'm curious as to what figures they're working with to reach this conclusion.

Guns In America: National Survey of Private Ownership and Use

Compare the number of accidental deaths to the number of "defensive gun uses."

Sorry if I hit a nerve, but I dont think I have ever heard a conservative try to defend the rights of criminals. Whenever someone complains about excessive force in a situation like this, it is always a liberal. I've never seen an exception.

David Blunkett is the man keeping reasonable force as the situation in what classifies as self defense and he's just about the furthest right person you could find without delving into the BNP.
