Am I missing somthing here? The Turkish government is not making any threats...they are warning of a possible escalation in violence from other groups that are out of their control. BFD.

I think the EU should let Turkey in as well. Why does it have to be either/or with the Ukraine? Why cant they both join?

EUP GOT THIS RIGHT SEE POST That is the essence of it all. Turkey has a border with Iraq of all things. Also a border with a real serious terrorist state - Syria.

One way into the EU was to become part NATO. Way back during the cold war years, and maybe even before the EU was a concept we needed Turkey as a buffer between the USSR and the Middle East so that the Soviets would not gobble up Turkey and the Middle EAST (sorry can't resist) so we made them part of NATO. Now it's payback time.

According to you, so is the US. When do we get to join the EU?

Not that they would ever let us...it would be one more thing we would dominate. The only way they could compete is by denying us membership in the first place, heh heh
