Default Some interesting quotes

Who do you think said the following and about whom?

1)
Quote:
We will not continue to tolerate the persecution of the minority, the killing of the many, and their forcible removal under the most cruel conditions. I should despair of any honourable future for my own people if we were not, in one way or another, to solve this question.
2)
Quote:
He has led a reign of terror. He has hurled countless people into the profoundest misery. Through his terrorism he has succeded in reducing millions of his people to silence. The maintenance of a tremendous military arsenal can only be regarded as a focus of danger. I am no longer willing to remain inactive while this madman ill-treats millions of human beings.
3)
Quote:
It is impossible to stand by and watch millions belonging to a great, an ancient civilized people be denied rights by their government. I have determined therefore to place the help of our country at the service of these millions.
Is it George Bush about Saddam? The Taliban? No, no, far too coherent. Tony Blair on Iraq, maybe? John Howard? Jose Maria Aznar? Nope.

Give up?

Adolf Hitler, on Poland, Czechoslovakia and Austria, respectivley.

Scary eh?

Default This, of course...

...means that any such sentiments are signs of fascism or the like.

Isn't the first quote about the Sudetenland Germans?

The third I knew, the 'ancient civilized people' gives it away.

But from what speech is the second quote? Who his the 'he' of the quote?

a) I don't know, I got these quotes from a book that does not make reference to the source and b) I would assume the President/Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia[/quote]

Default Dr. Edward Benes

Quote:
We have no interest in oppressing other people. We are not moved by hatred against any other nation. We bear no grudge. I know how grave a thing war is. I wanted to spare our people such an evil. It is not so much the country [of Czechoslovakia]; it is rather its leader [Dr. Edward Benes]. He has led a reign of terror. He has hurled countless people into the profoundest misery. Through his continuous terrorism, he has succeeded in reducing millions of his people to silence. The Czech maintenance of a tremendous military arsenal can only be regarded as a focus of danger. We have displayed a truly unexampled patience, but I am no longer willing to remain inactive while this madman ill-treats millions of human beings."

-- Adolf Hitler, April 14, 1939, justifying the German invasion of Czechoslovakia
If you google any excerpt from a speech, you can usually find who said it, or who/what they're speaking of.

Benes, now that's funny.
Claiming the leader of the only democratic country in Central Europe a 'madman', heh.

Found them online here, btw: http://www.swt.org/share/ancientciv.htm

Default OMFG

Does that not sound just like George Bush Dick Cheyney and the rest of the cabinet until recently? Even Senaflax was stopped in his tracks by it. We all know those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
