Possible David Vitter (R) Opponent (D) Bows Out In Louisiana

And, he has no plans to run against U.S. Sen. David Vitter in the next Congressional election.

U.S. Congressman Charlie Melancon was anything but shy on Friday as he toured the Tri-parishes.

Melancon, a native of Napoleonville, is also now co-chair of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of lawmakers who support pay-as-you-go government.

Melancon said he voted for the stimulus package because "to do nothing ensures a deep depression or, in the least case scenario, a deep, deep recession."

The lone Louisiana congressional member to support the program, Melancon reportedly told fellow lawmakers, "If you don't want to vote for the stimulus, I'll be happy to take all the money for the Louisiana 3rd District."

Good news for Senator Vitter, who is an awesome senator and great speaker (I have seen him speak twice). Melancon was probably the best opponent the Dems could have offered up, and even started back about 10 points in the polls.

Now, I wish someone would run against Melancon for his House seat.

Further evidence that the rats are going to lose big in 2010.

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the scandal a prostitution scandal? And isn't prostitution illegal? And doesn't being a criminal reflect on your trustworthiness as a senator?

Vitter has been a champion of conservative values in his votes and his amendments/proposed legislation. I have no quarrel with him and support him wholeheartedly.

That isnt the only thing he championed lol. He is a crook and a criminal. But i can see how u support criminals after all you did vote for Bush.

Wasn't old enough to ever have the privilege to cast my vote for the best modern day president since reagan.

Not to mention hypocritical as I believe Vitter was one of those campaigning on family "values" when he ran for the Senate in '04.
