Default SpongeBob FancyPants' Lesbian Adventure

A couple of weeks ago it was reported that the We Are Family Foundation intends to distribute a guide entitled, Writing for Change, to 61,000 elementary schools. The guide, developed in cooperation with publicly subsidized Oregon State University, seeks to teach children tolerance toward people who practice homosexuality. Some of the topics covered by Writing for Change, which is intended for children ages four to ten, are:

Identify ways in which homophobia and compulsory heterosexuality are at work in your daily life.
Find some examples of compulsory heterosexuality in your daily life.
How are you affected by compulsory heterosexuality?
How are you affected by homophobia?
How would you be affected if your sexual orientation were different than it is now?

Even though I do not have any toddlers in pre-school who will be taught such adult issues, as a Taxpayer I am furious. I wonder how parents are going to react when their pre-kindergarteners start coming home from a hard day of recess and coloring to ask such questions as, “Mommy, today I saw SpongeBob talking to a Lesbian. Am I a Lesbian? What’s a Lesbian?”

Liberals have crossed a line in the sand, as it were, with this issue and Conservative Americans need to start forcing changes in America’s public school system at the local and state levels. It is obvious that there is no middle ground when it comes to dealing with the liberal desire to deprave American Society and ensure the prohibition of any attempts to publicly educate children about morality and ethical behavior.

Forget about vouchers. Property Taxpayers need to insist that they be given the choice of sending their tax dollars to private schools of their choice instead of to their local school districts. Given that choice, I would care less what Liberals force elementary schools to allow or prohibit.

Writing for Change is NOT "intended for children ages four to ten". It is college-level curriculum.

Yes, the curriculum includes programs for pre-k through undergrad; however, the program that includes the SpongeBob SquarePants DVD is intended for children. Of course, it wouldn't be difficult to believe that it was used as college level at your alma mater.

About DPD
The Oregon State University Difference, Power, and Discrimination Program was developed between 1990 and 1994 in response to a request from students to incorporate material dealing with discrimination and diversity into the undergraduate curriculum. The University currently offers a range of courses across many disciplines that meet DPD criteria, addressing issues in the United States including unequal distribution of power, discrimination arising from socially defined meanings attributed to difference, and the interactions of social categories in contributing to issues of difference, power, and discrimination.

The DPD Program provides volunteer faculty participants with opportunities to develop coursework through a speaker series, noon brown-bag seminars, and the yearly Faculty Development Seminar. This venue gives faculty a chance to engage in community discussions with their colleagues, helps increase awareness and sensitivity to difference, and provides them with teaching resources, including Writing for Change, for planning, teaching, and revising courses for the DPD requirement.

Now, Sinanju, are you going to demand a link from Sam too, hmmm?

Yes, the DPD was “developed between 1990 and 1994 in response to a request from students to incorporate material dealing with discrimination and diversity into the undergraduate curriculum....” but that’s not what we’re talking about, now is it? We’re talking about Writing for Change, which is a component of the DPD that includes programs for pre-K through undergrad. Ah, ah, ah, don’t say another word - every time I read one of your posts it’s like having a bullet pushed slowly through my brain.

Default “Mommy, today I saw SpongeBob talking to a Lesbian. "

"Mommy, today I saw SpongeBob talking to a black kid."

"Mommy, today I saw SpongeBob talking to a Jewish kid."

amazing that those who say WWJD are the ones who are always thinking about sex and sexual orientation.

Get over it.

As long as Liberals insist on shoving the subject in my face, I don’t think I will get over it until my tax dollars don’t fund it. It is so funny how Liberals rant and rave when they are offended and then tell the people they offend to “get over it.”

If you read the whole quote, you see that Writing for Change is one of the teaching resources available in the DPD program. So yes, it is what we are talking about.

You are either extremely confused, or an out-and-out liar.

The first 2 paragraphs of your initial post:
Quote:

Writing for Change is part of an undergraduate curriculum - a teaching resource in Oregon State University's Difference, Power, and Discrimination Program. It was NOT "distributed to 61,000 elementary schools. That is simply NOT TRUE.

The 3rd paragraph of your initial post:
Quote:
Even though I do not have any toddlers in pre-school who will be taught such adult issues, as a Taxpayer I am furious. I wonder how parents are going to react when their pre-kindergarteners start coming home from a hard day of recess and coloring to ask such questions as, “Mommy, today I saw SpongeBob talking to a Lesbian. The video that includes SpongeBob, and more than 100 other children's characters, is a production of the We Are Family Foundation. It is going to be sent to about 61,000 elementary schools this spring, IIRC.

The video does NOT mention homosexuality. It is an age-appropriate music video produced to affirm diversity, unity, cooperation and family.

And the We Are Family Foundation is NOT related to or connected to the OSU DPD program. The "Spongebob" video is NOT a component of the OSU DPD program.

You remind me of the Black Knight in Monty Python’s The Holy Grail - except he was funny and you are just insufferable.
