Im still not sure why you guys are surprised by this. There is a reason previous administrations followed the same strategy. The primary reason we have not rubbed sholders with Saudi is because of the valuable natural resource they carry. To say otherwise would be simply beng in denial. We still need oil. Oil is still the cheapest means of fueling our way of life. Without it, we would crumple like a defunct paper airplane when it spirals to the ground. They know this, we know this... It is strategy that we can not get around. This is when you need to choose between morals and your way of life. Are you willing to eat out of a trash can in spite of accepting a few immoral acts and living a good life? Maybe one day we can finally seperate ourselves from oil, but for now we have to play this game and I think anyone with a brain understands this.

Well I guess, all the left wing organizations are gonna act like they didnt see a left wing President bow to an oil God.....lol.

This is just to funny. The left has been screaming for decades about how America is beholden to the Saudis, and then their own left wing nut, bows to him too.....lol.

That is awesome...lol.

Did you get this upset when Bush bowed to the Pope?

The Saudi King is not a Holy Man is he? He doesnt lead all of Islam does he?

Brutal attempt to compare the Saudi King to The Pope, but please keep trying, I know my comment will only further plunge this ridiculous comparison into further analysis until we are comparing The Pope and King of Saudi to The Jonas Brothers or something.

He may not lead Islam, but presumably as a monarch he is 'appointed' directly by, and answerable to, his God. He would be his God's representative and annointed leader in his country, I would assume (going by the general traditions of monarchy), just as the Pope is his god's annointed leader of the church on earth. Since both are leaders of men appointed by their God, and their positions are both directly answerable to their God, what is the difference?

So why was it not OK to hammer Bush but it's OK to hammer Obama? You seem to be implying that.

And how exactly was Obama supposed to behave? I'm not getting a clear picture of this, except that it's just another one minute hate from the Hate Obama Cabal.

That's my point. The premise put forth in the OP is idiotic. Who cares if our President shows proper respect for another leader by bowing? Only partisan whiners worry about such trivial matters.

By the way, besides being the head of the Catholic Church the Pope is also head of the Vatican, a sovereign state.

Giving him the same 'status' effectively as the queen of England (who is Head of State, and Leader of the Church of England). Why didn't Bush bow to her when he did bow to the pope? Maybe, just maybe, it really isn't that big a deal at all!

This whole thread is just another pathetic example of faux outrage and a really poor attempt at trying to make something out of nothing? For those of you complaining about this, your pettiness is disturbing.
Wait. You're comparing Bush bowing before the Pope to Obama kissing the King's feet? The Pope is a man of peach and highly regarded around the world.
