I find it very difficult to take people seriously who only now chose to "wake up" for pure partisian reasons.

These folks chose to be asleep the entire time Bush was raping our country and now they wake up.

There's no good reason not to take it with some measure of skepticism. Still, that a lot of formerly apathetic people are now taking to the streets is an interesting development.

Don't worry, we'll be just as welcoming to newly awakened liberals when Obama's massive spending plans destroy the dollar, create double or even triple-digit inflation and send unemployment up to 25% or more.

In these sorts of times, old parties die and new parties are formed. That might be why the GOP is trying to back what was a grassroots effort - they see the seeds of their own demise. Of course, that's just speculation.

It’s one thing for Hollywood twit Janeane Garofalo to smear the Tea Party movement as RAAAAACIST. We expect ignorant celebrities to be ignorant. But when newspapers phone up “experts” in academia to provide commentary and analysis on social and political trends, it would be nice if they based their assessments on reality, wouldn’t it?
In the Christian Science Monitor today, one professor of emeritus plays the Janeane Garofalo of academia:
