The LAST thing a succeeded Texas has to worry about is military concerns.

Lockheed Martin and Boeing have plants here, and they go where the money is. Plus, you have any idea how many rural Texans can't WAIT to deputize themselves? I don't suspect Texas will be attempting to actively participate in international peacekeeping, so it's all internal defense. And we've got that covered.

Everyone in the seceded state would be a sheriff riding his horse. They could make Bush president and watch their state turn into a third world nation.

Bush is about as popular as genital warts around here. I doubt that will happen.

The loss of freedom to tell other people what to do - and shoot them if they resist - and the right to be told what to do by a Washington bureaucrat?

I am not a fan of Washington. But they are what we have. We really need to stop returning incumbents to Congress and voting in those that will do what they say.

Not only that, the reddest of red Republicans know that he scuttled the party for the next decade or so. The state's in no danger of going to the Democrats in 2011, but they've got no love for Dubya whatsoever.

Check out 2009. That's that Omnibus Spending Bill Obama should have vetoed.
