GE’s Immelt: still a Republican?
Posted by: Nichola Groom
General Electric’s chief executive may be reconsidering his political loyalties.

At the Wall Street Journal’s ECO:nomics conference on business and the environment on Wednesday, Jeffrey Immelt fielded some sharp questions about GE’s bullish green strategy and support for government tax credits for sources of renewable energy. Finally, he shot back.

“I came here tonight because I was invited, but really I don’t need to be lectured by anyone in this room on how to compete,” Immelt said.

He added: “I always thought I was a Republican until tonight.”

Great post , Mertex... Seems like a lot of Republicans are comtemplating the errors of their ways and the main mantra of the GOP ,
" I got mine , now you get yours."

If it brings down the US , and it almost has , then what good is it to have all that money and have to live in a 3rd World country that has zilch going for it.

Better to do the right thing and let everyone have a slice of the dream..

That's the way I see it....

Only problem is he was trying to prove MSNBC has Right wing management.

Thanks Hillbilly, it seems that many intelligent and wealthy Republicans (Buffett along with several Governors, (Jim Douglas, Tim Pawlenty and Charlie Crist, among others)) voted for Obama and support him now.

One striking, if little-noted, trend of the past presidential election was that Obama won the affluent vote — those making more than $200,000 annually — with 52 percent. Moving down the income scale a bit, he and John McCain essentially tied among those making between $100,000 and $200,000.

In 2008, exit polls showed the percentage of voters earning more than $100,000 had jumped to a historic high of 26 percent, compared with just 9 percent in 1996. Obama’s strong showing among this bloc reversed a decades-old pattern in which the more money someone made, the more likely he or she was to vote Republican.

So, if the ones that were going to lose their tax breaks, didn't mind, why are these "middle or less" income people complaining about the tax cuts?

And don't forget Maggie - "The facts of life are conservative."
MSNBC is not exclusive. They have had many conservatives on many different programs. Megan McCain was interviewed by Rachel Maddows. Others on MSNBC include Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan.......

Not if the owner outlines the agenda that will be followed.

Murdoch (A conservative Republican) started FOX with a very right-leaning agenda.

The other stations although owned by Republicans don't control what is being aired.

Icon17 It does, but doesn't control it! Big Difference.

MSNBC is owned by GE (who supported Bush)
MSNBC is also owned by Bill Gates (also supported Bush to the tune of 2.4 Million.

GE's CEO is a Republican (Jeff Immelt)

What is there to disprove? Many of GE's Republican shareholders obviously don't like that MSNBC isn't more right-leaning and are complaining. We're in real trouble if they make it into another FOX!

The following link shows that Immelt, although a Republican, doesn't control what is being aired, in spite of the complaining right-wingers.

Also, Fox does more Media Watchesque programming than anything else. I've never seen anything pro-Palin on Fox, just them railing against the liberal medias apparent vendetta against the woman.

Pro-Palin Fox News host's husband is Palin flunky
Greta Van Susteren has been the chief engineer in the Sarah Palin follies, nabbing her for Palin's first national interview. Since then, Van Susteren's show has been Palin top-heavy, with long segments devoted to gushing praise and finger wagging at other journalists who take Palin less than seriously.

It's now come to light why Van Susteren has such accessibility to the Palin clan and why she is such an ardent supporter. It appears her Scientologist husband is a prime mover in the Palin makeover into a national political figure. It is also alleged that he is a driver in the Sarah Pac.

This wouldn't be so egregious if Van Susteren had just declared the conflict of interest. She hasn't. Even worse, she has lied about it. (It's not the first time she has been caught lying.)
