Default Hog Awards

Yes....and the two biggest hogs are:

The Hogzilla Awardto Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) for his $646 million in pork for Alaska.

The Flipping the Byrd at the Taxpayer Awardto Senator Robert Byrd (D-W. Va.) for his $399 million in pork for West Virginia.

Now.....somebody tell me why little ole West Virginia needs so much pork? I think in all his years as Senatuh......Sheets Byrd has brought home the most bacon of all to his litlte ole home state of West Virginia.

You ever been to West Virginia? I don't begrudge those folks any amount of pork.

And why are you so angry at Byrd but are giving Stevens a pass?

I find pork annoying, but in the scheme of things $27 billion is a drop in the bucket. I wish the people focused on pork would discover similar outrage at our ballooning deficit spending.

Hey, I didn't have to list a Republican at all....but I did. And besides, Alaska is a whole lot bigger than West Virginia!

And in case you can't tell......I don't like Byrd. There's something about having a former KKKer in the Senate that just makes my skin crawl.

Big of you.

And yet its population is a third the size. And it has oil money. And lots of other natural resources. And a big military presence.

West Virginia needs the money a heck of a lot more than Alaska does.

Default The larger point being, of course,

that we have a 'Pubkin House. A 'Pubkin Senate. A 'Pubkin President. And yet pork set an all time high. AN ALL TIME HIGH!! If you asked 'pubkins years ago how to end pork they would have told you to elect 'Pubkins. After all, they are "fiscal conservatives". We laughed. They denied. We were right. Naturally. But trust me, they will keep saying it because there are enough idiots who will continue to believe it.

Unless the all time high represents real dollars, this isn't saying much.
