Default Always remember D Day.

Good site with many personal accounts.

http://www.6juin1944.com/veterans/index.php

Most of these guys realized that the chances of their survival were slim and that there was never anyway to really be prepared for what was unravelling in front of them before they set one foot on the beach or jumped out of those planes. That amount of dedication is something most folks can only imagine.

Any chance I get to talk to a vet,of any era, Ill sit and listen closely.Guys who do folks the privilledge of sharing thier stories are treasures and shouold be admired.

I can't find a transcript for the two Eisenhower addresses for D-Day. Maybe someone else can. I've always felt that his pre-planned "accept full responsibility for the failure of D-Day" speech really showed how committed a leader he was.

It pains me the way the world has changed - and I'm only 30. The respect that has disappeared in the last generation - for soldiers, police officers, teachers, parents - in my opinion is the cause for much of the turmoil we see today.

It terrifies me that there is the potential that, by the time my grandchildren are old enough to understand, rememberance day will be another unimportant mark on the calendar.

Blame it on materialism and greed. The members of the current generation only care about themselves with a few exceptions.

Google is doing a great job commemorating d-day by.... actually they're commemorating the 25th anniversary of Tetris. Tetris Holding LLC is sponsoring it. I think google and Tetris should pull down the add before someone gets in trouble.

You just beat me to it.

Earth Day,Turn lights out Day,Cinco de Mayo (tetris?) all have garnered little icons marking the occasion.....yet neither Yahoo or Google have anything to offer up to these heroes today.....classy.

Someone was saying something about forgetting sacrifices.

My father was in the Army (Infantry) in WWII. I will always remember the stories he told me.

I also like talking to our vets and donate to them when I can. Remembering D-Day To those who have passed on too.

Google will regret this. They have done this before. Instead of d-day, a spanish painter.
