Her statements were racially motivated, and therefore racist. However, I do not believe that makes her a full blown racist to the degree that this would disqualify her from the bench.

I do wonder about the "court makes laws" remark, as well as some of her decisions..

Lots of PAC's are funded by corporations. What motivations did this particular group have to go after Soto? Other than political affiliation... which really shouldn't come as a surprise...

I don't see her as racist one bit to be honest.

There are indeed certain aspects of life that a well off white person doesn't see, that a poor, latina woman from the Bronx would. It's just fact. As a white person I am not the least bit offended by this comment and I believe it to be true. Like it or not she would have lived a much different life than the 100 other white supreme court justices before her. Now, if it clouds her ability to be fair in court, than we have a problem, but it hasn't so............again, no offense taken.

No they werent. No matter how many time you repeat that crap it doesnt make it true. She made virtually the same comment back in the 90s and we didnt hear a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing peep from so called conservatives and republicans when they affirmed her to the appeals bench.

The she made the same comment is one of the weakest defenses ever. If anything it just makes it worse as it reaffirms that it was not just a slip up and it is her actual long standing beliefs.

There are things I experienced that you did not experience. Every person has that situation.

As a Judge, a person should not reflect on their race and gender in making decisions. It's about the US Constitution!

There is no place in a Justice system for a person that is a racist, sexist bigot.
Sotomayor is still living in the 17th century.

I never in fact saw it as a slip up. She said what she ment both in 94/00 neither time was racist.
