Stimulus grant may cost Dayton, Ohio 1,200 jobs. NCR Corp., an automated teller machine company based in Dayton, may consolidate all of its operations in Duluth, Georgia, possibly with the help of a $5.5 million stimulus grant that Ohio legislators claim would help pay for the NCR factory. Ohio state senator, Jon Husted, complained that it was not fair. “The use of stimulus funds means that Ohio taxpayers were forced to pay for NCR's move to Georgia,” he said.

Geeez how funny is that, Ohio voted for Obama too. Maybe next time they will start arm twisting their legislators right away, too bad we're all stuck with that tab.

Minnesota theater wins millions over bigger job producers. The Minneapolis City Council has chosen to give $2 million to the Schubert Theater, making it the city’s largest recipient of discretionary funds. The theater will be used for “dance and music events,” and is expected to create 41 full-time jobs. Council Member, Paul Ostrow, the only member to vote against the project, objected that the theater was given higher priority over a solar panel manufacturing facility in a low-income area would create 360 jobs. Noting his displeasure with the Council’s decision, Ostrow said, “this is frankly not a jobs project.”

I thought the stimulus was all about the jobs? 41 vs 360 and for solar panels? We can only hope their Banking Regulation plan works better than their stimulus plan.....but I doubt it.

Where is Biden with all this waste going on? He was suppose to be the stimulus bulldog. I can only imagine Obama's health care and theat banking reform will be implemented with the same stellar efficiency.

Locked in the White House basement so he can't make another stupid comment about something he has little expertise on.

Ya, lets look at it objectively. Amtrak has been a huge waste of federal money for decades. .007% of daily commuters use Amtrak. Earmarxists love Amtrak because it buys a voting block of workers, and socialist simpletons are in love with mass transit.

Amtrak represents a 40+ year waste of federal subsidies for obsolete passanger rail that only a tiny fraction of people use. If there was a market for passanger rail, you wouldnt need to subsidize Amtrak.

Michigan stimulus projects make senator's list of the worst

By TODD SPANGLER • FREE PRESS WASHINGTON STAFF • June 16, 2009

WASHINGTON – Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma released a report today on the 100 worst projects funded by the federal stimulus bill: A handful from Michigan made the list.

It comes as Republican critics of President Barack Obama dig in on what they see as wasteful spending authorized by the stimulus legislation and what could be a key issue with voters in next year’s off-term elections.

Singled out for derision in the report’s introduction by Coburn, a Republican who voted against the $787-billion stimulus bill this year, was $500,000 for the renovation of a historic railroad freight house in Ypsilanti.

“Supporters of the project envision the new space beign used for yoga classes or a coffee shop,” the report said. “This is not exactly what most taxpayers had in mind when they were sold the stimulus.”

How about a tofu pavilion? Or a Unicorn factory or the production of rainbow powered love machines cranking out Strawberry scented welfare checks?

Stimulus Money Meets Lack Of Accountability

Last week it was revealed that $120,000 in federal stimulus money, originally intended to help clean up Ononadaga Lake in Central New York and rebuild local infrastructure, would actually be used to pay for the printing of a pamphlet about the lake cleanup -- and the pamphlet wasn't going to be entirely new either, it would be a updated version of an existing pamphlet from 2001. New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand had originally lauded the $120,000 of stimulus money set aside for the Onondaga Lake project, saying it would "improve the quality of life" for local residents and "create jobs across the region" and "long-term economic growth."

Well, they are both singing different a tune about the money now.

New York's U.S. senators Monday asked the Army Corps of Engineers to stop a "wasteful" federal stimulus project for Onondaga Lake, saying it would create no new jobs or infrastructure.

Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand called on the commanding general of the Army Corps of Engineers to find a new use for $120,000 in stimulus money set aside to update a color pamphlet providing a status report on the $1 billion lake cleanup.

In a letter to Army Corps Gen. Robert L. Van Antwerp in Washington, D.C., the senators asked him to halt plans for reprinting the 2001 "State of the Lake" report with the stimulus money.

Instead, the senators said the money should be reallocated for projects that would immediately create or sustain jobs related to the cleanup of Onondaga Lake, once among the most polluted lakes in the nation.

"Stimulus money should be used to create or sustain jobs, to help business, and turn the economy around -- not for reprinting a study that already exists," Schumer, D-N.Y., said Monday.

Nice faux outrage AFTER the fact.

This only goes to show what a colossal waste of money the Stimulus really is, how many other projects in how many other states? $120K to boast about cleaning up a lake instead of actually spending the money on doing it. I really hope you folks don't think the Donkey Basketball team that brought you this foolishness can do any better on health care, bank reform or alternate energy. That dizziness your feeling is from your hard earned tax dollars circling the bowl just before the last big glub...glub...glub....and GONE with the Ty-D-Bowl Man!

Vice-President Biden Admits: "People Are Being Scammed Already" on Dems' Stimulus

Washington, Jun 2 - On the 105th day since the President signed the bloated, trillion-dollar “stimulus” spending bill into law, the Administration is continuing to do whatever it can to sell this widely-panned legislation. Today’s chief salesman? Vice President Biden. Unfortunately for the Administration, the Vice President veered wildly off script in a roundtable in New York, admitting that “people are being scammed already.”

That’s hardly the reassurance the American people were looking for – and that hardly meets the Administration’s promise that the bill would “…contain an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability.” But that’s not the only claim that’s failed to stack up, of course. Don’t forget about these:

Claim: The President claimed that the stimulus “…contains an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability, so that every American will be able to go online and see where and how we’re spending every dime.” (Remarks by the President at his first press conference, WhiteHouse.gov)

Fact Check: So far “a full 99.7 percent” of money allocated to the Transportation Department remains unspent, according to The Washington Post. Perhaps an aide to House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman James Oberstar (D-MN) said it best: “To some extent, I think the administration oversold the transportation aspect of this…It was sold as the heart and soul of the package, and it really just isn’t.” (Matt Apuzzo and Brett Blackledge, “Stimulus Watch: Jobs, But Not Where Needed Most,” Associated Press, May 11, 2009)

Claim: The President claimed that the stimulus “…will save or create 3 million to 4 million jobs over the next two years.” (Remarks by the President in Elkhart, Indiana, WhiteHouse.gov)

Fact Check: “State officials have complained about the difficulty of obtaining grants for construction projects, while economists question administration claims that the effort already has saved or created 150,000 jobs.” (Adriel Bettelheim, “Tinkerbell Effect, Part 3: Obama’s Job Creation Efforts,” CQ Politics, May 27, 2009) The Associated Press reported that: “The early trend seen in the AP analysis runs counter to expectations raised by Obama that road and infrastructure money from the historic $787 billion stimulus plan would create jobs in areas most devastated by layoffs.” (Matt Apuzzo and Brett Blackledge, “Stimulus Watch: Jobs, But Not Where Needed Most,” Associated Press, May 11, 2009)

Claim: The President claimed that it would contain, “[n]ot a single pet project. Not a single earmark.” (Remarks by the President at his first press conference, WhiteHouse.gov)

Fact Check: The “stimulus” “contains dozens of narrowly defined programs that send money to specific areas or cater to special interests.” In fact, the “stimulus” contains “$50 million for habitat restoration and other water needs in the San Francisco Bay Area” and “$62 million for military projects in Guam.” (Michael Grabell and Christopher Weaver, “In stimulus bills, earmarks by any other name,” ProPublica, Feb. 5, 2009)

This boondoggle will be bigger and as well know as Seward's Folly. The people should not forget this trillion's on the Democrats and your going to be paying and paying for a very long time.

76% Say Government Likely To Waste Stimulus Money

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Seventy-six percent (76%) of Americans say it is at least somewhat likely that a large amount of money in the $787-billion economic stimulus plan will be wasted due to inadequate government oversight.

Nearly half (46%) say it is very likely, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Only 18% say it is not likely that taxpayer money will be wasted.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/publ...stimulus_money
I highly doubt the American voter will forget exactly WHO wasted nearly a trillion dollars and who voted against it when the mid-term rolls around in 2010.
