Default The Reason Dems went for "the deal"

I had heard this yesterday, but now here's proof. I had heard that the reason the Democrats went for the "deal" was because the found out yesterday morning that they didn't have the votes to stop the Republicans from changing the rules. And now we read that Arlan Spector told Republicans they had his vote after all:

"Specter’s support for the tactic means that it will be extremely difficult for Democrats to get the six Republican votes they need to defeat it."

So, this is why the 7 Democrats.....I'm sure with the support of their leadership.....went for the "deal." Because they knew they would lose and they knew they had to do something to save some face. As Harry Reid admitted yesterday he got his first good night's sleep. And for good reason.

Default It's obstruction

The reason the dems went for the deal, is because the mid term elections are right around the corner. They remember very well what happened to lil' Tommy Dashel, the democrat minority leader of the senate. They do not want to appear as obstructionists coming into a new election.

Default That

And a recent poll showed American approval of Congress is extremely low. Continuing the filibuster debate would've been destructive for both parties, especially the Dems.

Default "the deal"

The Dems went for the deal for the same reason why the Republicans would have gone for it if the roles were reversed. They want to stay in office, period.

Default .

Wait a minute... wasn't it the dems who made the deal, and a small group of repubs that "went for it?"
