In the issue of gay marriage, it seems to be only the liberal opinions that have an impact on government decisions.
As the democrats say when challenged on the issue: "Gay marriage is a right that can't be denied just because you say it is wrong" Couldn't conservatives have an inverse opinion?: "Just because you say gay marriage is right doesn't mean that it is a right" Yet as gay marriage takes hold in more and more places around the country, and even the world, it seems to be only the Democratic views that matter. If gay marriage becomes a right, what's next? Marriage to animals?

The difference between the two is this: the democrat point of view (as you put it) takes a stance that all people, both hetero and homo, should have equal rights when it comes to marriage. it's not about homosexuality being right or wrong.
The conservative point of view is discrimating against the beliefs of homosexuals by seeking to create laws that pass a moral judgement on their beliefs. The government should not be in the game of passing laws on morality. -Demosthenes
