Default A reference guide to the Downing Street Memo

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ke...misinformation

Now, Conservatives, go ahead and tell me there isn't enough information to warrant an investigation. The idea that it's okay for a President to lie is dangerous. Because if a President can get away with lying over a war, then there's practically nothing else he couldn't get away with, either. And then, we no longer have a Democracy, but a dictatorship. That's not a slippery slope fallacy. It's really. The very basis for Democracy working is that when we have evil or dishonest politicians, that we stand up to it, and not let such corruption stand. To say, "it's okay for Bush to lie", is to say that dictatorships are okay. And that it's okay for over 20,000 people to die, over a lie. Yes, it was a noble cause. Should we have been told the truth? OF COURSE!

I can't understand how Conservatives hated Clinton for lying about a blowjob, or hated Dan Rather for pushing a false story, but Bush lies to support a war, where people are killed, and they completely tolerate it.

You can go ahead and say, "There's nothing we can do." But it's that kind of attitude that kept evil men like Hussein and Hitler in power as long as they were. If you are a truly patriotic American that loves America, freedom, and democracy, then you would not allow this crook to trample over the Constitution, and claiming to love freedom and democracy, while completely circumventing it and throwing all Judeo-Christian morality out the window, as he has the blood of over 20,000 people on his hands, simply for oil.

I ask you to simply read the information on that website. Read all of it. And I guarantee you that, if you're a fairly open-minded, non-partisan person, you'll see why I'm saying the things I am. All I'm asking is that people support an independent, unbiased investigation. If Bush is really so innocent, is that too much to ask?!

If you truly believe Bush is innocent, well, ordering an independent investigation that clears his name would make the Democrats look stupid. So, WHY do you oppose it?!

YOU say...."You can go ahead and say, "There's nothing we can do." But it's that kind of attitude that kept evil men like Hussein and Hitler in power as long as they were." So....basically what you are saying there is it was long overdue for us to take Hussein out. I totally agree with you 100%!!! And Thank God President George W. Bush finally did it!!

I have not seen any evidence sufficient to warrent an investigation.

You will need evidence more solid than the biased interpretation of a single foreigner to support an impeachment IMO.

I agree. So far you have failed to prove he lied about anything though.

Coming to a conclusion different than your own does not = a lie.

Ridiculous exaggerations like this dont help your argument.

Even assuming he lied, we could still remove him from office, or elect someone else in his place. So yes, we would still be a democracy. Even after it was proven Clinton lied (and got away with it...he was never removed from office), we remained a democracy.

We dont become undemocratic just because the majority of us dont agree with your definition of a lie.

How so?

I didnt hate Clinton...I voted for him twice. I opposed his impeachment on the grounds that a BJ was trivial, whether he got it or not. Proving it was irrelevant to me.

Dan Rather is another issue, because he was pretending to be an unbiased journalist. He is hated because he is a hypocrite.

Been there. Done that. Unless you can summarize any information I have not seen before, I'm not going to waste my time. What is on that site that has not already been brought up on this forum many times?

It would have been more honest of you to replace "if you are open minded" with "if you agree with me". Because thats what you really mean IMO.

Short answer: Yes.

Because an investigation implies guilt...thats why impeachment is such a big deal. And why we dont do it unless there is evidence to support it. You can impeach someone just ebcause you dont like some decisions they made. You have to have some proof. So far you have provided none.
