Last Suspects in Failed Bombings Nabbed
By PAISLEY DODDS

LONDON - Police swooped down on a posh London neighborhood and traced cellphone calls across Europe to a Rome hide-out Friday, netting the remaining suspects in the failed transit bombings without firing a shot. The arrests capped an eight-day manhunt that was one of the most extensive in British history.

"Posh" neighborhood. I guess that means well-financed?

Now all we have to do is hope they wait until they are proven guilty before they kill them.

and BTW, yes posh means upsale or high-class.

That wasn't the point of my question. I know what the word "posh" means. I was making note of how they must be well-financed by somebody. But who? That's going to be a very important thing to find out.

MSNBC, August 1, 2005
LONDON - British transport police dispatched reinforcements from around the country to patrol London’s subway system Monday in a show of force meant to discourage more suicide attacks.

Meanwhile, police investigating the attacks said they had arrested two men during raids in south London.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said the men had been arrested “on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.”

Officers wearing neon yellow jackets have flooded the network in hopes their visibility will reassure a public jittery since July 7 suicide bombings on three subway trains and a bus killed 56 people, including the attackers.

Four bombs planted exactly two weeks later — also on three trains and a double-decker bus — failed to detonate or cause casualties but further rattled nerves. One suspected attacker has claimed the bombs were never meant to kill but only to attract attention. But police have not ruled out that the July 21 attack was a botched copycat.
