With 24 hours notice, I will let the landlady in, as I have many times. But as you say, it's her building. But the city inspector does not have the right, per our constitution, to enter any private dwelling without a search warrant.

The landlady does not have the right to enter my place at any time, as you state, she needs to give me 24 hours notice, as per the law.

I do not want the city inspector in my place. I have nothing to hide, it is simply me being me. I actually assert my rights. That is what I did.

I am curious, why is asserting my rights under the law lead you to say I have something to hide? That only muddies the issue. The Constitution gives me the right, so why not exercise it? As you know, if we don't exercise, then the muscle becomes weak and atrophies. Same with our rights, we only have the rights we defend.

Second, the reason they're ineffective is because they don't use racial profiling. The Israelsve told the US countless times that checking every 5th person is completely ineffective. Checking moms with strollers and catholic nuns does nothing. Cops need to focus on suspicious looking people............ them being arabs. Then it would work.
If it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, you can rest assured, it is going to be a duck.

The Brits and Israelis have a much better solution, cameras and societal profiling.

*sarcasm on*

Even though there is a gang war going on at the border (is that near you?) between rival drug operations, using bazookas and machine guns, we're not going to have any talk of inconveniencing those seeking a better life (at our expense).

They do not have the right to search people at random. They need probable cause, and being in a public place is not probable cause. Read the first and fourth amendments.

I've even heard a few news stories where some of our Border Patrol were shot at by these drug dealers, but I haven't heard about us doing much about it. Texas is a big state with a lot of places to cross completely undected. Up here by the Red River I know and deal with a a growing amount of people who crossed the Rio Grande River without any problem(could have been carrying anything if they wished to).

They do have the right. You think subway searches to prevent arabs from blowing up 50 people are "unreasonable searches and seuizures?" You don't think a very dangerous and violent looking arab guy is "probable cause" to check out whats in his bag?

ooh, and everyone should get the following

Very good stuff
