Zimbabwe: Land is for blacks only

HARARE, Zimbabwe (Reuters) -- Zimbabwe will not invite back white farmers whose land was seized by President Robert Mugabe's government despite calls by the central bank chief to allow them to help the struggling agriculture sector, state media reported.

"The land here is for the black people and we are not going to give it back to anybody. We are not inviting any white farmers back," Security Minister Didymus Mutasa, also in charge of Lands, Land Reform and Resettlement, told the state-owned Sunday Mail.

Seems like they are trying to correct the evils of the past. I will agree, its is not fair for the white people, but it seems to me that most of those white people's ancestors stole that land from the black people of the region in the colonial days. Correct me if I'm wrong, but usually colonial societies worked that way.

Is this a problem? Were you thinking about moving to Zimbabwe or something?

From the CNN article:

But Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Gideon Gono recently urged Mugabe's government to allow some white farmers back on to the seized farms to help revive an economy near collapse.

Gono has said while some new black farmers were doing well, he was disappointed with the performance of others, adding that the government should allow some of the skilled former white commercial farmers to resume operations in strategic areas such as horticulture.

My question is why would any of the white farmers want to come back? Mugabe has shown he will do what is expedient, rather than what is right. As I have been saying for years, without property rights, we have nothing. There are no property rights in Zimbabwe. The black farmers who got the land are just as much at risk as the white farmers whose land was stolen. I expect famine there now.

Mugabe is an evil, lying, greedy SOB who is content with stealing his country's resources for himself. He has always been that way. He is a dictator who has "murdered" numerous people.

Doesn't that alone qualify for a regime change?

Hmm unless that particular Bush Doctrine was just empty words with no practical way of implementing. ..methinks it time to re-read those threads and see who amongst us think it is a practical idea for the USA to spend it's resources trying to save the whole world from their stupidity.
