True
It does seem wierd. One of the stewardesses was in the ruins of the cockpit. But hijackers were not. I still doubt it was a hijcaking. My uneducated guess is that the plan depressurized and the oxygen system failed for the pilots leading to them passing out while not taking the immediate right action of diving to thicker air. Instead they put it on autopilot and tried to fix something and never got to get whatever they were thinking done.
Pilots, even highly trained ones makes mistakes in strange situations. I saw a show about a passenger plane that lost all it's fuel and managed to glide to an Island in the Atlantic. The pilot made the immediate right call when he realized his fuel was leaking to head for the island before it completely ran out allowing him to glide for like 20 minutes to get there. So he is a hero for saving everyone but. But he also pumped fuel from a tank not leaking to the engine that was because he misread information and did not realize what was happening.
I think these pilots might have also misread some information, made an incorrect assumption and not been so lucky has to have an island to land on.
