Uh.....that's easy. There are some already scheduled to come home. These 1500 are being sent for the specific purpose you just told us about.
Why is that difficult to understand? There are military personnel going and coming there all the time. I have friends whose son went last September was supposed to stay for a year....but was sent back home in January. It depends on who they need.....and where and when. If you were ever in the military, you'd know how that goes. My husband who was a C-130 pilot during the Vietnam war era......got called in to the base (Forbes AFB in Kansas) one morning and was sent over to the vicinity of Viet Nam. Even I didn't know for some time where they sent him. That's the life of the military.

Yeah, of course soldiers are coming and going throughout any war, but the rate of movement maintains a steady amount of troops. The total number of troops at any given time is basically the same because they come and go at the same rate. Now they are planning to add 1500 more troops to the total. I can't understand why this is necessary if the war is as successful as some people often say. How can we consider this war a success if we have to send 1500 more troops to help fight expected attacks throughout Iraq during voting season?

I remember we did the same thing during their first election. I don't see it as any big deal. 1500 hardly registers percentage-wise. And they probably aren't permanent.

If memory serves, I have noticed a particular consistency from our troops in Iraq. They seem to all state clearly that we do need more boots on the ground. I don't care if it's the popular thing to do. Just do it.
