Howard Dean in a despicable use of the race card said ' Race was a factor in the death toll from Hurricane Katrina, to members of the National Baptist Convention of America on Wednesday at the group's annual meeting. Dean, made the comments to the Baptists' Political and Social Justice Commission. The Baptist Convention, with an estimated 3.5 million members, is one of the largest black religious groups in the country. "We must ... come to terms with the ugly truth that skin color, age and economics played a deadly role in who survived and who did not," Dean said. What a low life thing to say when he knows that it is not true, not logical, and not even possible. Is Dean trying to convince us that authorities purposely did not rescue Black people ? Or is Dean saying that the government has a way to control the weather ? Ok Howard you must have been listening to too many of those late night talk shows where people call and report UFO's, crop circles, black helicopters spraying bacteria and virus, , and Chinese troops landing in California because of Clinton's executive order 1993b.271262b/x2*y=b2.

Heck, I wouldn't want to be stuck in an evac center with a bunch of strangers just for those same reasons; Their skin color, age and economics.

race, age and economics were all factors. Any time the system breaks down, it is the least of us that pays the price. How sad that all those elderly had to die in such a manner. . . how sad that where you are on the poverty scale determines how the government will help you.

My problem... and I have always been more "eastern" than "western" is that age should not have been a factor.
While many cultures condone economic discrimination(ours especially) and many cultures, our own included, involve themselves in racial stereotyping, almost all cultures accept the truth that the able must care for the incapable. Sadly, our culture seems to forget that little truth anytime that it inconviences us. All americans should cry havoc over this and we should track down those who let the seniors die in fear and those who left the young to perish, scared and alone. Some should be rewarded handsomely for their actions... check it out. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/3340752 "In the chaos that was Causeway Boulevard, this group of evacuees stood out: a 6-year-old boy walking down the road, holding a 5-month-old, surrounded by five toddlers who followed him around as if he were their leader. They were holding hands. Three of the children were about 2 years old, and one was wearing only diapers. A 3-year-old girl had her 14-month-old brother in tow. The 6-year-old spoke for all of them, and he said his name was Deamonte Love." Deamonte Love is a true hero. He did not do what he did for money or politics or fame. He did it because it was the truly righteous thing to do. This child should NEVER want for anything in his life again. If i had a heart in any form resembling a human's, I would set up a trust fund for this child who had more of a heart a billion of me. (*)(*)(*)(*), I am crying. **edit** I have edited thrice and I am still crying like I lost my mother in a department store. Jesus, i am talking to way too many liberals... i am growing a freaking heart like the Gingrinch who stole Christmas.

It doesn't surprise me that Howard Dean would make such statements to help out the minority vote of the Democratic Party, since his party has been staggering on the minority vote lately, what would have surprised me is if he didn't use this tragic situation for his own political gain.
