Default New Orleans police chief resigns

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...ew_orleans_hk2

Quote:
NEW ORLEANS - Police Superintendent Eddie Compass resigned Tuesday after four turbulent weeks in which the police force was wracked by desertions and disorganization in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath.

"I served this department for 26 years and have taken it through some of the toughest times of its history. Every man in a leadership position must know when it's time to hand over the reins," Compass said at a news conference. "I'll be going on in another direction that God has for me."
Thoughts? Should he quit for doing a bad job, or is this a good man leaving after an extremely rough experience?

Default going by what I read

he shouldn't resign, he can't help it if his force is filled with cowards. I think he did the best he could in that situation, again, going by what I read.

Default ?

I think something else might be coming down the pike about the New Orleans police force that we don't yet know about. Sheppard Smith of Fox implied such today when he said there was more coming on this, but that they'd address it later. Made me think that Smith knows about the other shoe to drop, but didn't want to dance on the guy's grave immediately after he announces his retirement.

Maybe some kind of federal investigation perhaps?

Default fell on his sword or was pushed

I believe that he fell on his sword ( or maybe Potty Mouth pushed him) for a little of both reasons. Even if he is not responsible for the nearly 33% of the police 'officers' who just never showed up for duty is not his fault, it did happened on his watch.

Default I don't blame him

He better get out while the getting is good. He seems to be one of the few people down there with any sense. He's probably tired of the incompetence
and corruption. If I were him, I'd take my family and get as far from there as possible and never look back. Then I'd write a book and expose everything I know. That may be the best thing he could do for the people living in poverty.

Default ?

Oh really? Well, many of the Democrats on this board were loving Shepard Smith during Katrina.

And BTW, if you have a problem with Fox....then check out CNN this morning. They are reporting that the New Orleans police were involved in the looting that took place. Not to mention that about 20% of them abandoned their jobs.

I bet you wouldn't last an hour in the shoes of the NO police force.

would last an hour in this police force. How can they be expected to police a city when they have no leadership from the mayor. How did this jerk ever get elected? Maybe he was the only one who wanted the job. Guiliani should go down there and tutor the leadership, ahh, why waste his time.
